The insights gathered, including many important technical considerations, will be factored into the next stages of the project as we develop and design our poll questionnaire and campaign outputs.

Our discussions considered how these issues intersect with national R&D strengths and challenges and explored priority areas for the public opinion research underpinning this project. We also discussed ways to evaluate the impact of this work.

UKRI’s budget - Over the four years 2026 to 2030, total funding for UKRI will be £38.6 billion. The annual budget in 2029/2030 will reach nearly £10 billion. Based on current inflation forecasts, the UKRI budget will be broadly flat in real terms across the later years of the review period.
