Depends if it all has an actual direction and each feature has been designed to work well in my opinion, if it's just making features for the sake of it, then there's no point.

I feel like Ultrakill is a good example where lots of different features all work together really well and feel good.

Anyways, I hope you found something helpful in all of this, it has been a major personal struggle for me to adapt to the current state of things as they are, and shifting my goals / mindset has really helped me to avoid being depressed about it all constantly.

I know I'm yapping like crazy here, but I just wanted to share this in the hopes that it might help someone else struggling with the recent changes in the industry, and across the world.

Always try to find the positive side of your current situation. It will help you feel much better about life.

And even if it does steal my work for training data, it's not really much different to some goblin stealing my work and passing it off as their work anyways. I still get to be the one making these things and learning how, making a story that I want to experience above all else.

And to be honest, even if it's not what I originally planned / hoped for, I'd be happy to be able to still make things with my own two hands and have people enjoy them, even if it's only a small group. Because AI won't go away, it's like Pandora's Box, it's open and it can not be closed now.

... I have come to the realization that I need to change my mindset and goals, or I am just going to continue to be in a depressive state complaining about every tiny little thing. I'm fine now with just being some niche indie dev that maybe only a handful of people ever hear anything about.

... that I would learn those skills properly, get better, land some job as a programmer for a major company and then go from there, but I've learned as of late that life doesn't always work out like you think it will. With all of the layoffs, AI slop and horrible things in the world ...

Undertale is such an inspiration, it's an amazingly done game and it is so much fun to play. Glad to see one of my favorite developers enjoys it too.

This game changed so much for me, it was the first thing that I played in years where it felt like it was made with love, care and passion. The story was amazing and I still can not bring myself to do the geno route after doing true pacifist.

@support.bsky.team I am still unable to verify my age as the authentication provider (Kids Web Services) keeps rejecting my card constantly, I have tried other cards and the face option, nothing has worked.

This locked me out of DMs completely because the provider you chose to handle age verification (Kids Web Services) will not accept my card, even though I have the £0.05 that I need for the charge to be authorized.

This is the best starter pack I have ever seen in my life.

Yeah, I've had a similar experience recently, especially when it comes to popular content that gets a bad rap because of greedy content farms / NSFW creators making it out to be some inappropriate mess. It's nice when you ignore them all and just enjoy what you like.

Still haven't been able to verify. This really needs fixing.

Facts, it's not fair to judge the game unfairly before it's even out. It's a terrible way to go about things. It's better to wait and see for yourself when it is finally out.

If you think this is only going to stop at getting NSFW games removed from Steam / Itch, you are deeply mistaken. It is only a matter of time before these companies start to remove games that go against their own political agendas. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot we can do right now about this.

I've been posting a lot about Stop Killing Games recently, so it feels fitting to mention the recent attack on digital storefronts by payment processors such as Visa and MasterCard. Due to a recent protest, these processors are now getting any adult game delisted, and this could be abused easily.

This has very quickly become my outlook on things to be honest, niche things just seem so much more fun and interesting than mainstream.

Finally managed to P-rank Minos Prime in #ULTRAKILL, honestly, this game has become one of my favorites of all time, I love the chaotic gameplay so much, even if Minos killed me 34 times over the first time I got to P-1 xD

Props to Hakita, New Blood and the entire Ultrakill dev team for the game.

I love this, it's a perfect summary of the life of an indie dev.

Everything helps, like you said, planned obsolescence does not belong in gaming. We as both consumers and gamers have the right to play the games that we bought access to, even after the publishers and devs give up on them, rather than having them become forgotten media, never to be seen again.

Of course we have lobbying groups coming out against the SKG movement spreading falsehoods. Don't believe a word that Videogames Europe says. They're against consumers keeping access to their games.
