‘A lot of the hate happened in Australia’: why the Christchurch mosque attack still awaits a full reckoning The Australian terrorist’s propaganda continues to surface in other offenders’ cases, and Muslim leaders say more needs to be done locally to confront Islamophobia

The terrorist who committed 51 murders at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand in 2019 was radicalised in Australia. Both in Australia & the US his manifesto & digital propaganda continue to crop up in the criminal court cases of others. #auspol www.theguardian.com/world/2026/m...

What the TAS govt isn’t telling you is that there are rolling security incidents happening at Ashley, every few days. Out of control.
They said they would shut it down by 2023 due to uncontrollable abuse, but they lied.

On my latest episode of If You’re Listening I described the Iranian Revolution as an event which “overthrew an ancient monarchy”. The comments section is angry at this saying the Pahlavi family had only been in charge since 1925.
I can’t comment on there but if I could, I’d point out that…

We won’t accept racism as “part of the job” in parliament. We’re calling on Labor to stop looking the other way, stop normalising this behaviour, and fix the rules that allow racism to persist in parliament.

Australian governments subsidising fossil fuel use by more than $30,000 a minute, analysis finds Australia Institute data finds state and federal subsidies for coal, gas and oil products increased 10% in past year, growing at a faster pace than funding to NDIS

Subsidies to mining companies growing faster than the NDIS, child care, aged care.

Australian gov fossil fuel subsidies now at $30,000 every minute of every day.

Great piece on @australiainstitute.org.au latest research

A political cartoon by Megan Herbert in which a journalist asks Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, " Have you just committed us to a war?" And the PM responds, " No, I've committed us to a (preemptive retaliatory de-escalation action to protect and defend Australians and other citizens in response to a request by our new strategic partner by sending defensive missiles & surveillance equipment to protect the airspace and assist the region with its collective self-defence against reprisal attacks that come as a result of the ongoing operation launched as an anticipatory response to perceived threats by historical allies acting against the established international rule of law who are too powerful for us to in any meaningful way challenge.) There's a very big difference." The words in brackets are arranged in such a way that they completely fill the word WAR written in a huge, hulking, bold khaki font.

A war by any other name.

How falling battery costs are igniting race for round-the-clock solar power Outside Abu Dhabi, a vast area of desert is being carpeted with solar panels.

Make sure your loved ones aren't operating on out of date priors about intermittent renewables: tell them batteries are now an economical supplement generating full time dispatchable power from them.

So the inquiry seems to have found that the Girls School in Iran was previously part of the IRGC compound, and US intelligence thought it still was.
Looking at freely available satellite images, you can see that there's been a wall separating the school from the IRGC base since at least 2016.

Scomo off the Robodebt hook The National Anti-Corruption Commission delivered its investigative report into Robodebt referrals today, and Scott Morrison was found not to have engaged in corrupt conduct. **Correction:** An earlier version incorrectly named Stephanie Foster in this story, for which we apologise. The referrals related to “specific events during the development, approval and implementation of the Robodebt Scheme”, and in particular the six individuals referred by the Robodebt Royal Commission. The initial finding of the NACC was that there was no corrupt conduct for either of them, a decision that was widely criticised partly because NACC Commissioner Brereton was believed to be close to Kathryn Campbell, yet didn’t appropriately recuse himself. Although never previously made public, it is widely believed that Morrison and Campbell were two of the six, but today’s report cleared four, but found that former Department of Human Services (DHS) general manager of business integrity, Mark Withnell, and former Social Services deputy secretary Serena Wilson, did engage in corrupt conduct. However, the NACC report stated: “that there was insufficient admissible evidence to establish the alleged offences against either Mr Withnell or Ms Wilson beyond reasonable doubt.” > It is therefore not appropriate to refer either to the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions. In other words, justice remains elusive for Robodebt victims. > The Robodebt six. Is the NACC protecting Scott Morrison?

The text is my invention, not an actual quote

“Senator Wong, what exactly are the rules?”
“It’s very simple Brian. We can’t rule in or rule out that there are rules, due to the International Rules Based Order directed to us by our ally the United States. That’s the rules”

Four frames. Title: “The rules”. Albo and Penny Wong at a lectern. 1. Albo: “Some of you have asked if rules still apply, so we’d like to clear things up.” Wong: “Obviously we shouldn’t kill!” 2. Albo: “However, if you hurt or kill someone and enough people agree they were bad, then the rules aren’t up to us.” Wong: “It’s a ‘matter for them’” 3. Albo : “Also, if you get someone else to do the killing for you and someone accuses you of it, that’s ‘a conspiracy’” Wong: “Against the rules!” 4. Plus, if thousands of innocent people get killed when you kill the bad person, you must focus on the six people you saved.” Wong: “That’s the rule!”

The rules.
