I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately: One of the most valuable features of the modern state is its ability to reduce individual-level cognitive burden in a complex world.

Not having to worry about whether your food or medicine is safe is one big part of that.

yo trato de hacer una argumentación racional para definir conceptos de forma coherente pero ya veo que eso es demasiado pedir

y segundo porque basar cualquier argumento en un supuesto apoyo científico que en realidad no explica adecuadamente los hechos sí que es pegarse un tiro en el pie, por mucho que facilite el discurso a nivel divulgativo y, aparentemente, legal

más bien hace falta una labor de divulgación filosófica

y yo lo que pretendo decir es que tratar de simplificar la realidad para apoyar un argumento tampoco sirve de nada, primero porque se deja fuera las experiencias de muchas personas que requieren de un análisis más fino de una realidad biocultural que es muy compleja

y eso es a lo que se llama "sexo asignado al nacer" que no tiene por qué corresponder con la estructura natural y objetiva del mundo en sí

que algo se haya hecho tradicionalmente solo demuestra cuáles son las prácticas culturales imperantes, desde luego no es un argumento biológico

existen las personas con genitales ambiguos...

No es más científico ese planteamiento por más reduccionista. Ojalá hacer entender eso algún día.

Y son posicionamientos políticos que no pueden sustentarse en una ontología que sea consistente con la diversidad biológica de hecho observada. Lo cual no significa necesariamente que haya que prescindir del sexo como concepto, que tiene su utilidad epistémica en biología/medicina y a nivel social.

Tanto la definición del género en base al sexo como del sexo en base a una supuesta realidad biológica objetiva (que hay dos clases naturales de individuos que pueden clasificarse en base a una serie de rasgos biológicos que son esenciales a cada clase) son ambos posicionamientos políticos

Lo que no es es un concepto científico neutro u objetivo (si es que algún concepto lo es, pero este evidentemente menos). No hay manera de dar una definición biológica de sexo para una especie concreta (ni hablemos como una categoría natural que aplique a todos los eucariotas) que sea coherente

Pero si es que la cuestión es que el sexo tal y como se pretende interpretar, es decir, como dos categorías a las que los cuerpos se pueden asignar de forma precisa y no ambigua en base a criterios biológicos claros es un concepto social, con una historia y una carga política

¿Y si no tengo ni pene ni vagina qué soy? Porque claro, sexos biológicos habrá solo dos y serán categorías cerradas.
¿Y si el resto de mi anatomía o mi fisiología no concuerda con la que esperarías por mis genitales al nacer? Porque si no importa, no es una categorización biológica demasiado seria.

O sea que no puedes determinar el sexo "biológico" de nadie sin examinar sus genitales AL NACER. Y da igual la historia de desarrollo de nadie, solo sus genitales en el nacimiento determinan sus rasgos biológicos. Estarás en contra supongo de evaluar niveles hormonales en competiciones deportivas.
