Today, I was proud to join School Board Member Carlos Rivas Jr., parents, and the Santiago Elementary community to share the news that Chicago Public Schools will be moving forward, signing a lease agreement to keep the property of 2510 W Cortez St.

For the first time in 30 years, residents of the 7th Congressional District will have a new Congressperson. On Thursday, February 26th at the Ukrainian Cultural Center, we hosted a community forum to inform voters of who is running, their platforms, and answer questions submitted by attendees.

Residentes han expresado serias preocupaciones sobre el cumplimiento de CHA con las leyes federales sobre discapacidad y su gestión de las solicitudes de adaptaciones razonables. Los residentes de viviendas públicas merecen dignidad, justicia y pleno acceso a las protecciones que garantiza la ley.
[ES] En la última reunión del Ayuntamiento, presenté una resolución solicitando audiencias temáticas sobre la Autoridad de Vivienda de Chicago (CHA).
I will continue pushing for these hearings until we get the oversight and reforms our communities deserve.
Residents have raised serious concerns about CHA’s compliance with federal disability laws and how reasonable accommodation requests are being handled. Public housing residents deserve dignity, fairness, and full access to the protections guaranteed under the law.
Last City Council, I introduced a resolution calling for subject matter hearings on the Chicago Housing Authority.
