It is disappointing to hear that the process laid out is not being followed through with. I will work with my colleagues and pass as many ordinances as needed to make sure this issue finally comes to a close; it's what our constituents deserve.

I passed an ordinance creating a path for the department to resolve these complaints and stop putting the burden on everyday Chicagoans.

Better services need to be delivered to our residents. Period.

Judges appointed by Bush, Obama, and even Trump himself have stated that this is an overreach. It is going to take all of us to push back against this. Donald Trump needs to remember that he is the President of the UNITED States - not just Red states or those who voted for him.

Today, the City of Chicago declared that no city property can be used by ICE for staging, detention, or as operational bases. As Donald Trump continues his escalation against Chicago, it is crucial that we do everything in our power to stand our ground.

The Trump administration's imprecise tactics have resulted in detaining individuals with legal protective status and U.S. citizens during recent raids. Stay engaged, informed, and communicate with neighbors.

This morning and early afternoon, federal ICE agents continued operations in the Belmont Cragin community. Agents were seen at Home Depot and observed questioning street vendors. Please use caution and remain vigilant.

There is no reason for this, and the federal government could halt this escalation if it cared. I stand with Illinois Veterans for Change, Common Defense, and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in calling out this overreach of authority.

Every day, we see increased escalation from Donald Trump’s Broadview Detention Center.

Peaceful protestors, attacked.

Thank you to the Veterans Assistance Commission of Cook County (VACCC) for putting this guide together and keeping Veterans informed during this time.

🚨 Some services hit pause — including career counseling, transition assistance, and GI Bill hotlines. VA regional offices will also be closed, and there will be no new headstone placements, pre-need burial applications, or printing of Presidential Memorial Certificates during the shutdown.

➡️ Medical centers, outpatient clinics, and Vet Centers stay open.

➡️ Benefits like compensation, pension, housing, and education will continue to be processed. Even burials at national cemeteries will move forward, and the Veterans Crisis Line (988, Press 1) remains available day and night.
