We’ve gone to four incredible Zacatecas museums in three days, all of which have outstanding collections and now we’re in a restaurant that bills itself as a museum. The respect here for the arts - visual, music and the written word - is deep. Even the streets are named after artists. #lifeinMexico

Why only temporarily?

We are having a wonderful time. Zacatecas is just beautiful. We’re glad we were able to come.

Last night after a free outdoor performance by the banda sinfonica we went to the most famous bar in Zacatecas, Quince Letras, where they only let parties of 4 or more sit at table. We joined a native Zacatecan who lives in Philadelphia and his friend. Free tacos were served and good times were had.

A couple of pics from Zacatecas. After a long (but comfy) bus ride yesterday we slid into a nice restaurant for dinner last night without a reservation. We’ll go out exploring today once we finish coffee. Hoping to take a ride on the teleférico.

Up before sunrise this morning so we can close up the apartment, Uber to the bus station and take a regional bus to Zacatecas. We're going on a little Mexican vacation. We'll be traveling in the state of San Luis Potosi for two weeks.

Happy Mardi Gras! This evening our book club will be discussing The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, by Junot Díaz. We’re going for a Dominican carnaval theme for this meeting so we’ll be picking up some fresh empanadas for folks to nibble on while we talk about the book. #lifeinMexico

This evening we’re having friends over for an early dinner and a movie. They want see F-1 before they attend a costume themed Oscar party next month and we have Apple TV. We’ll be grilling on the balcony in this lovely weather. Should be a good time. #lifeinMexico

Happy Valentines Day! Our lunch group is not meeting today and the hubs is taking me for a romantic brunch at one of the original European-style wine bars in town, an old favorite of ours. I plan to make him dinner this evening: braised lamb shanks fresh from a butcher delivery. #lifeinMexico

Today I'm going with a couple of ladies from my book club to a warehouse pottery sale where we'll shop for arts and crafts and then go to lunch...if we can work out a reasonable price for our private driver. This evening we've another mezcal tasting party, this time paired with Asian food.

While the hubs hikes with a friend in the barranca, I’ll be lunching at the American Society and later sipping wine and nibbling a cheese plate with my ladies wine group. Happy Thursday. #lifeinMexico

Doing some trip planning and making reservations for an upcoming trip to San Luis Potosí where we’ll trek through the jungle to see the waterfalls and check out the sculpture garden at Las Pozas. We’ll leave by bus the middle of next week. #lifeinMexico

Rewarding ourselves after all our hard work doing laundry and cleaning the house by taking ourselves to see Bugonia at the movie theater and then to the Expiatorio for tacos afterwards. This will be the 11th Oscar nominated movie we've seen. I'm starting to get movie burnout. #lifeinMexico

We were all in tears…but then we are all ex-pats who live in Mexico. It was awesome.

Our Charros won their first championship game yesterday in the Serie del Caribe and the first win for Mexico in the series since 2016.
Now, on to American football and the Super Bowl.

2026 Caribbean Series: Jalisco Es Beisbol! In a Little Over a Decade, Guadalajara Has Become a Baseball Town - World Baseball Network Winning the LAMP title this year and a chance to win the Caribbean Series on their home artificial turf has given the Charros de Jalisco an even bigger profile in Guadalajara.

All I know is people sure seem to like beisbol here and we are very fortunate that's the case!!

The Charros beat Puerto Rico and the Tomateros beat the Dominican Republic yesterday in the semifinals, so tonight's final game in the Serie del Caribe will be the two Mexican teams playing against each other. Coincidentally, the Charros swept the Tomateros when they played a couple of weeks ago.
