The image shows an evening sky with orange and brown colours. In the centre seven small clouds are visible with thin downward curved veils originating from them. In English these clouds are called jellyfish clouds, an appropriate description!

@suerob7.bsky.social

The image shows the full Moon, just as it started to enter the partial shade (penumbra of Earth) this morning. The image shows the full Moon as it has started to enter the full shade of Earth (umbra) this morning. The left side of the Moon is gettting dark here. This image, as well as the previous one and the next one have been taken at ISO 200. Exposure time needed to get longer at every step of the eclipse, nicely showing the diminishing brightness of the Moon during entry of the Earth's shadow. The image shows the full Moon with a larger part at left in dark shadow. This was just before the Moon set here. The sky was already quite bright with sunrise less than half an hour away.

De totale maansverduistering vanochtend, zoals deels zichtbaar vanuit Nederland. Begin intreden bijschaduw (1), begin intreden kernschaduw (2) en net voor de Maan onder ging (3). @leonoor.bsky.social @johanklos.bsky.social @govertschilling.nl @suerob7.bsky.social @roelvanderheijden.bsky.social

The image shows a curved earth horizon, viewing towards Antarctica and clouds over the ocean south of Australia. The bottom of the image is dark. Going up we pass the terminator and enter sunlight. The horizon is brighly lit, with the blackness of space above it. Here the image shows a number of thin blueish streaks which are noctilucent clouds. The Himawari 9 satellite is positioned in a geostationary location over the western Pacific Ocean. The satellite is operated by the Japan Meteorological Agency.

The world is becoming a terrifying place, but let’s talk nevertheless for a moment about a wonder of nature: noctilucent clouds (#nlc). They form over high geographical latitudes during midsummer. The image shows nlcs over Antarctica on 27 January 2025 seen by #Himawari9 satellite. 1/7
