Just found out that Jimmy Lin, the super swinging star of the awesome Singing Thief and Tropicana Interlude has passed away aged 92. The Singing Thief was released by Eureka fairly recently, and is highly recommended for fans of groovy 60s action. 92 is a good run, but still sad. Rest in Peace King.

Oh also, this might be controversial, but I don't like when subs reveal a whole line out of sequence with the line delivery. So these subs are a little more broken up than usual, but I think it flows well. There's also a few lines that are technically too long, but again, I think it works.

2. Throughout the movie, many people tell Cricket to "eat some late night congee." This is Cantonese slang for practicing kung fu late into the night & then coming home to eat congee (a meal that won't overcook or spoil waiting for your return).

Two additional things that will help the movie make more sense: 1. The main character's name is 爛頭蟀 laan tau seot AKA Reckless Cricket, and this is Cantonese slang for someone who refuses to give up; no matter how much the odds are stacked against them, they will fight until the bitter end.

The Chinese subs in the stacked subs are not meant to be used as actual Chinese subtitles. They are the Spoken Cantonese I translated from and they serve two purposes: 1. To fulfill my nostalgia for stacked subs, and 2. To allow Cantonese speakers an easy way to see what I worked from/got wrong.
