(His mother re-marries in both my mainline headcanon and in this AU, long after Black Spy moves out and loses contact... until they reconnect later on. Afterwards, Black Spy's relationship with his mother and step-father vastly improves.)

Due to his father being even more distant than my mainline headcanon, Black Spy has a *little* more freedom in gender expression as he grows up, keeping his hair short and occasionally dressing in masculine clothing when his father isn't home.

His father was usually off on business or "hunting" trips, so he was mainly raised by his mother, who was much more loving.

What resulted was a little Vampire Black Spy, raised by an unaffected mother and a father ashamed of the "monsters" within the family who hid his own Werewolf status for a very long time.
Their relationship was deeply strained, as his father didn't exactly... want him alive.

Black Spy's father, despite being a Werewolf himself, despised "monsters" and actively sought out starting a family with a woman who was neither Werewolf nor Vampire... not knowing that she, too, was a carrier of the Vampire gene.

Another detail on my "Monster" AU:
I've already established that Black Spy is a Vampire who carries the Werewolf gene, but who does he inherit it from?

...His father was a Werewolf who came from a family of mostly Vampires.

A werewolf has to be in their transformed state to smell vampires or other werewolves.
Vampires can always detect other vampires but can only recognize Werewolves when the werewolves are transformed as well.

Individuals of their species can be somewhat identified/recognized by their scent.
Vampires and Werewolves experience this to a stronger degree, to the point at which they can tell if someone else is one or the other in certain circumstances.
