Caribou Ranch, archived photo taken sometime in the 70’s. If you listen to Elton John’s caribou album, you can hear how the bass was exaggerated in the mix room so it resulted in a thinner bass sound in the end.

Perkons is one of the best live tools I have to hash out beat layers quickly. Here I’m getting ready for some in game music. Controlled by RTPC each layer will add to or subtract from itself to create a whole song. As player gets into intense action play the song builds to its fullness.

Sound Devices Portable recorder and battery pack placed on a stool with a contact microphone on the glass window behind the device.

Playing around with some cheap contact mics today. I’m hoping to get the kids playing for once to use as monster sounds in game. With any field recording and contact mics it’s always a surprise what you end up with since acoustic room resonance doesn’t exist when using these mics
