see I can't even type correctly, what makes anyone think I can explain palettes
the question I get most often is "how did you pick those colors?"
I have no goddamn idea what the person wants to know. I literally click the color picker until it's the color I find pretty
which ends up making the person annoying because they think I'm avoiding the question
I'm not implying I'm a savant or something. I'm saying I do not work with a clear logic in mind, and I'm a failure at explaining how I did anything

"mario how do you did this"
"mario teach me how to do it like that"
"mario what is the process for this"
I'll have you know most of the time I have no fucking idea what I'm doing. I just go "does it look good? no? continue" until the answer is "perhaps"
with the Backrooms movie announced, I keep thinking about the anon that posted it for the first time on 4chan. I wonder if this guy keeps cursing the moment he posted it anonymously

Christopher Belmont is very overlooked for such an important character. It's because of the first game that the Dracula Legend exists in the story, and because of the second game's influence that Richter is portrayed as an enemy on SotN.
So it's nice to have some Christopher coverage like this!
This video is easy to watch and listen to, and very complete.
Mike asked me for a little hand, and if you like The Adventure and Christopher Belmont, I'd like to recommend this great coverage of The Adventure.

About the OST: Fucking listen to this.
If someday the Pope tries to kill you, this is what your epic struggle with the elderly will sound like
www.youtube.com/watch?v=m30s...
And about the weapons: Veredicto was my first choice and I fucking loved it. But then, Sarmiento & Centella became my favorite from about the halfway to the end.
I just ate the bosses like they were candy with this weapon.
Again: why couldn't i get into this game before?
No idea. I played the first one when it released, didn't like the first hour and thought "this ain't for me"
But I'm happy to have gotten into it this time!!!!
the mirror/inverted castle level on Blasphemous 2. I thought the level was gonna drag on forever, that they thought the gimmick was SO GOOD it warranted hours of it. Nope. Several hours of great game in, and I still underestimated it.
I was gladly proven wrong. And the level is great
Another thing: I've played metroidvanias that just don't know when to stop. Levels that go on and on into exhaustion.
here this happens almost never. I didn't get exhausted and bored of a level. The one time I thought "oh my god they're gonna drag this forever" and they didn't
this is proof of good level design, of good expectation management. They know where to place hints JUST subtle enough to guide you to the secret of this kind. This counts a lot to me!

Oh and btw these games do something I call jokingly among friends "metroidvania sense"
Basically, secrets are well telegraphed and follow a logic established as early as SotN. *Something* tells you this wall is breakable, and it really is. You don't gotta hit ALL walls in the game to find secrets
I wish I had the DLC because I know Semblante Cautivo plays in there, and this is another track that is just incredible.

I want to comment on the OST too. I found the OST on 1 to be good but not "I will remember this" good. It served to set the mood but wasn't very memorable in general.
On 2 the Crown of Towers does not stop playing in my mind +
2 though? An improvement on every aspect, some of which I didn't think was possible.
The game plays smooth as butter, pretty much all gripes I had with 1 were *GONE* on 2 (sans some of the obtuse stuff, but here was far less).
I'm caught wondering why exactly I couldn't get into these games before
I found 1 to be a great game. Still, there were some annoying things like "select brings the map but does not close it", the Penitent One feeling stiff at times, and some obtuse stuff I couldn't help but wonder how anyone could figure that stuff out +

The past week I beat Blasphemous 1 and 2 for the first time, back to back.
The first time I played years ago I couldn't get into this game for whatever reason. This time though, damn...
Also the jump of quality between 1 and 2 was VERY noticeable and so welcome.
Magazine name is Dengeki PC Engine, btw
If you try to translate this, it'll read "Ralph Christopher Belmont". It's because "Ralph" is Trevor's name in Japan.
