Any ideas what may have happened in the interim?

River Wye pollution prompts UK's largest environmental lawsuit Livestock and water companies are accused of โ€œextensiveโ€ pollution in the Wye, Lugg and Usk rivers.

โ€œThis is the largest legal action concerning environmental pollution ever brought in the UK. In a context where government and regulators have failed to prevent degradation of our rivers the court has become last avenue for justiceโ€

Kendrick should be asked how many non-white faces he sees in his constituency town of Newark before he lectures other communities on integration and multiculturalism. Newark is 95% white and 2.5% Black/Asian.

MPs and public underestimate urgency of climate action, new UEA study reveals Fewer than 15% of UK MPs knew emissions must peak by 2025, raising questions about climate communication

New UEA study finds public and politicians dangerously misinformed: climate clock says 2025, many think 2040 or beyond.

Quite an odd headline even the hyper-cautious BBC. That isn't the main line he's defending: he had attacked a supposed total lack of white people in the area

Another year Iโ€™ve not seen Hen harriers in the #YorkshireDales in breeding season. Dales habitat looks like successful Bowland habitat though.
No records ever in May & June. July records likely โ€œbrood managedโ€ birds 2021.

A brass memorial plaque in the church of St John the Baptist, Kings Caple, commemorates my great uncle George Ravenhill, who died on the first day of the Battle of Loos, 25th September 1915

A brass memorial plaque in the church of St John the Baptist, Kings Caple, commemorates my great uncle George Ravenhill, who died on the first day of the Battle of Loos, 25th September 1915

On September 25 1915 my great uncle, George Ravenhill, died on the first day of the Battle of Loos. Aged 35, he was a Herefordshire agricultural worker who volunteered to fight in the war to end all wars.

Wondering why @the-wildlifetrusts.bsky.social is dumb on this platform. Many individual county trusts are active here, reaching the huge environmental/conservation/natural history community that has left X. Sadly the Essex Wildlife Trust is still not among them.

I remember from my 1950s childhood, when WW2 was still fresh in adults' minds, that the St George's flag appeared once a year from church towers, on April 23.

Sadly the Essex Wildlife Trust still refuses to join many other county Trusts on this platform. It has frozen its X account but says it will continue to rely on other social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn etc) rather than here. #essexbirding

Could I remind Mr Pecksniff that those policies were part of the Labour Party manifesto on which Keir Starmer and others in the current government campaigned? I don't think the whole Labour Party should be dismissed as idiots (other opinions are available).

20.09.2025 07:13 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

These policies were popular but Corbyn failed (just) in 2017 because May bought support from the DUP and in 2019 because of the propaganda war whipped up over antisemitism by factions in the party.
The apparent failure of Your Party is in part due to the dominance of one issue - Palestine.

20.09.2025 06:52 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Mr Pecksniff and I crossed virtual swords over his patronising dismissal of Your Party. Events have proved him right but I can't let his remark about the dotty left pass. What was dotty about public ownership of utilities, welfare reform that reduced child poverty, and a progressive tax regime?
