A few important nots:
- hospice is not a place
- palliative care is not hospice
- talking about death does not make people give up or die
- at the end of life food does not make you stronger
- taking morphine for advanced cancer pain does not mean youβre dying/an addict/giving up

21.12.2024 17:55 β π 127 π 19 π¬ 12 π 3Inpatient referrals for psychology are often like- can we help a patient with 'strategies'.
In reality, we spend time with people & listen to what's going on, "how are you really?" Often there's a question or message to pass on to the medical team.
It's not really about strategies. It's listening.
The patient's daughter told the healthcare team that her dying mom loved the beach. Without asking, @thanhneville.bsky.social made these "heartbeats in a bottle" for the patient's husband and daughter, and they loved it so much. Sometimes, small acts of #kindness can go a long way.

Their honestly and practicality is really something π©· and often worth a laugh!
He asked if various people will die. When he asked βwill daddy die?β, and I told him yes, he paused to think then saidβ¦ βour dogs will be really, really sadβ.
I was touched by his empathy π₯Ή My husband, while initially touched, was alarmed that only the dogs will be bereft π

Here they show:
* restrictions on divorce
* restrictions on abortionβ¦
both correlate with pregnancy homicide (albeit differently, depending on age/race) ππ©Ί
