Weretober2025 Day 17 - Carpenter Bee 🐝

Three speed drawings of bugs. An orange Scotolemon doriae, a green leafy Pycnopalpa bicordata, and a lovely brown Megaloblatta blaberoiodes cockroach.

Tried to do 30 min bugs to help learn Krita + see if I can offer bug doodles of reasonable quality. A little iffy so I'll keep practicing.

Shiny emerald green cuckoo wasp on an unopened thistle flower against a grey backdrop

Wandering the pine savannah after an hour or two of summer rain is always fun: sometimes there's normally flighty lumps just chilling, like this cuckoo wasp who let me get really close. 💚 I needed today's walk and all the creatures in it.

A black and white wasp with orange legs sits on a stem of small withered flowers and cleans its foreleg. The wasp has a small head mostly taken up by its large black eyes, attached to a thorax three times the size of its head, that stems into a rice grain shaped abdomen with a thin needle like ovipositor sticking out at the tip. It has a white section in the middle of its long antenna, a white band around its eyes, white splotches on each segment of its thorax, and white bands around each segment of its abdomen, Its legs are spindly and orange, with the thigh segment of its back leg being notably thicker.

I was having a bad day this day, so I went out to my garden to find bugs and cheer myself up, but didn't find a single bug :(
Then this GORGEOUS wasp flew into view and sat long enough for me to take two photos, I've never been so grateful to a bug before <3
