The US government has no interest or conception of a world order that does anything other than bend to their whims. That's it. That's the logic. Can we stop being shocked by this and just get on with opposing it?

Albanese’s dream of Labor becoming the “natural party of Howard” takes another big step forward. Ffs.

Excellent resource allocation by the party that boasts about being economically superior. They got one Tim Wilson and Labor got 94 of 150 available seats.
Shrewd.

This thread is sort of the reverse of the Python skit about “what have the Romans ever done for us?”
No equivalent of, “well, obviously the roads!”

British far-right, anti-Islam activist and thug, Tommy Robinson, sends out supportive tweet to Anthony Albanese, saying, "I don't like this man either but credit where it's due". It is in response to Albanese tweeting support for Trump's war in Iran.

Wow, that's endorsement you don't want on your resume.

Negative gearing changes on the table before May budget, Jim Chalmers confirms Treasurer says ‘not unusual’ for his department to examine options but stresses that no decision has been made

Labor's caution increasingly comes across as patheticness. Just frigging say you are considering it.
"Do you like ice-cream?"
"It's not unusual for people to express preferences for a range of delicious desserts at this stage of a meal."

Really nice work documenting the way in which creeps like Wilson are given protected species status by the media, in this case, specifically by Nine Media.

It's sold about 40K copies last time I looked, which is a lot for Australian non-fiction. The bigger point is that it is another cog in a project to normalise this view of history, and that project is ongoing and bottomless.

Lol, yeah, I did. I was writing a book about the culture wars, and Abbott features. The publication of the book is outside my timeline, but I thought I should do him the courtesy of reading it.

Girt by Tony Abbott A review of the "history" of Australia by the defeated member for Warringah and his helpers at the IPA

This is not a history book but another IPA-led attempt to erase and delegitimise labourist, socialist, Indigenous, multicultural or secular traditions and pretend we are all good little Christian conservatives.

Yes, but the LNP would've bulldozed 3001 hectares of tropical savanna, so it's a win!

TN bill would allow death penalty for women who have an abortion SBC President Clint Pressley endorsed the effort saying it would “provide preborn children with equal protection of the laws.”

Meanwhile, the Epstein files, full of postborn children….
