I thought I was missing being in a band. But I think I just miss making gig flyers and zines. In high school and college, I played drums in a band as well as designed our flyers and website. That was years ago and I didn't realize how much I missed doing that until now.

The photo shows a repurposed analog vending machine at the San Francisco Zine Fest in 2015. On the glass of the vending machine the words ‘The Wonder Emporium’ are hand-painted in white lettering. Inside the vending machine or numerous small plastic capsules; one half of each capsule is red and the other is transparent (one can see they contain white paper material). The vending machine’s base is painted bright red and has been stabilised with some small wood panels at the bottom. As well as bearing hand-painted representations of the capsules, other lettering painted onto the glass of the vending machine says ‘50 cents’ (the price of each capsule), as well as "zines, fortunes, toys, drawings, poems, more". In 2016, I visited Tokyo and attended the Zinester Afternoon zine club in early July... 🇯🇵

It was an informal, monthly gathering organised by local zinester @momononaka.bsky.social at Cafe Lavanderia in Shinjuku.

I highly recommend following Momo on here – she's at the heart of Japan's zine scene ✂️

I made these 💫 reward stickers 💫 for giving out to people when they trade zines with me at fairs! I don't experience zine trades anywhere near as much as I used to so I'll be doing some things to encourage it a bit more #DIYzines
