Every time you encourage a child to read a book, you will change their lives - sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. But child by child, book by book, we can change the world. Children who read become adults who think - and will build a world thatβs better for EVERYONE. #books #reading #literacy

A photo of a junk sculpture of mine. A T-rex made from toilet roll tubes. The image shows the model partly constructed, held together with tape.
In my 20's, when I started working creatively with kids, I began to revisit what I'd enjoyed as a child. Trying to unearth what I'd loved about art, unpicking what I'd found difficult. I began to reconnect with the boy I'd been, and I tried to become the adult he'd have wanted to help him. π

Happy PLR Day! Every time you borrow a book from a public library in the UK, the writer receives a payment - just another way in which libraries are AMAZING. Huge thanks to all libraries & librarians for working so hard to inspire the love of reading - and thank you to all readers! #LoveLibraries

Whole Class Reading 2025
Hello β itβs been a few years since I wrote about the teaching of whole class reading, and I figured I would do it again, as itβs generally the thing I am asked about the most β plus inβ¦
Hello - I wrote a new blog about the teaching of whole class reading, which I haven't in a while. It's over 9000 words so quite a read, but I hope the comprehensive nature of it comes across as helpful, rather than patronising. Anyway - hope it's useful!
