I learned the hard way to avoid reading books issued through monthly subscription boxes. every month, the reviews flood my timeline saying that it’s the scariest book in a must read and then I get my hands on it. Just meh. Last year it was hidden picture amongst others

Is there something specific you’re looking forward to later in the month?

I respect that. I like horror with strong character development, A plot that keeps me engaged and an inventive use of tropes. if it can get my heart pumping a little bit then am pretty impressed, but it’s not necessary

Not normally. I love horror, but very little of it scares me. Sometimes I feel a sense of dread or some anxiety. Some people rate horror, good or bad based on whether they were scared, but I think that’s a bit misguided.

I’m enjoy it! Every chapter is teaching me something new about Marsha and life in NYC As a transgender black person. I can tell that Tourmaline did their research, but it’s not dry at all.
