Also, Pete Hegseth is a unique kind of loser, and his inevitable demise (whether brought about by his raging alcoholism or equally raging stupidity) will be a generational moment for incompetent, talentless pick-mes everywhere.

By not calling out an illegal war that has already seen hundreds of children killed, once again the Irish government is at odds with the will of the Irish people.
Winning a seat or election is not a blanket mandate to do whatever you want - it is the granting of the right to represent the voters.

The importance of maintaining the triple lock could not be clearer.
Any government that can't call out clear violations of international law because they're afraid how the US will respond cannot be trusted with decisions about foreign deployment of troops.
It's as simple as that.
I hate how accurate this tweet is.

The place was called @auschwitzmemorial.bsky.social, you might have heard of it.
We were the first journalists to enter the Kurdish city of Kobane since Syrian government forces advanced across the country's northeast in January.

Call your government TDs and your ministers. Go to their clinics, or Dรกil Eireann.
Make them hear you out, and then look you in the eye and tell you why they cannot speak out against the killing of children.
Let them feel your anger, but most of all, your resolve.
This is how change happens.
As I have said many times, politicians exist to serve the people and not the other way round.
It's high time principled, decent, peace-loving Irish people reminded both the belligerent windbags and silent nodding donkeys that supporting and aiding war is not what they were elected to do.
Hamstrung by the number of seats they have, opposition parties can only do so much - but citizens marching and contacting the people they chose to elect them by phone and email to ask why they are not reflecting their wishes is much more powerful and immediate. THAT is the true opposition.
02.03.2026 10:53 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The political calculus is that voters vote once every four years and then do nothing until it's time to vote again, and in the Irish context that is often true - but if enough constituents get off their arses and protest, elected reps can be influenced and their policies changed.
