π January Book Haul π
Wow I think I went a bit crazy with book purchases this month. π€ 16 books in total. Now to be fair most of them I got on sale or used. βΊοΈ
Have you read any of these? Get any good books in January?

28.01.2026 18:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I love the look of annotating tabs. β€οΈ
I am in the middle of annotating my re-read of A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas.

βοΈ Things That Made Me Laugh
βοΈ Spice/Romance

Do you like annotating your books?
#booksky
Oh ya no, no critiquing of texts or anything. π Some people get creative and doodle or draw pictures. Some keep it simple and just draw or use emoji stickers. π
I try to keep in mind that I am not going to be graded on it and just go with the flow.
I am super new to annotating myself. I flag things that interest me or I think are important. I write little notes about thoughts that come to me while I read. Highlight quotes I really enjoy/think are funny.

Happy Shelfie Sunday!
My husband got me this little bookshelf for Christmas. Most of these books have been acquired since then. Oops! π€ To be fair most of them were during Boxing Day sales, at used bookstores, or from Book Outlet so I saved a bunch. π

The last book I read was Ember and Ash by Lisa Renee Jones.
I am currently reading Hopeless Necromantic by Shiloh Briar.
Next I am going to re-read A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas. Been wanting to re-read this for a while and annotate it.

Decided to give audio books a try. Starting with a Sherlock Holmes book, A Study in Scarlet. Was happy to see that Stephen Fry is the narrator. Loved him in Bones. π

Currently reading Hopeless Necronamtic by Shiloh Briar. I am a few chapters in and loving it! Sikras is a funny, laid back necromancer but don't you dare be mean to his walking, talking skeleton brother-in-law, Benjamin, or you'll be sorry. Love the humor coming from Sikras and Benjamin. π

I hated reading out loud in class. I hated any sort of attention from a group of people.

I really wanted to like this book more. So many people seem to adore it but I couldn't really get into in. It was alright but it literally put me to sleep multiple times. π

Ember and Ash will be the first book in The Thorne Saga that is expected to release in the summer of 2026. It is a demons and angels romantasy.
What are your weekend reading plans?

My reading plans for the weekend are to finish Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett and to start reading the ARC of Ember and Ash by Lisa Renee Jones.

Don't you just hate it when stupid work gets in the way? π€£
I need to finish the ACOTAR series. I started reading it with Libby but the wait for holds in between books drove me nuts. I now have the physical copies so I need to get on that!
Counts for me. A book is a book whether or not it is a re-read.

I can't wait! βΊοΈ

I feel like this is me and my husband when i get emotional about a characters in a book or a movie. He doesn't understand how my daughter and I can cry over fictional characters. π€£

Book 5 of the month is Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett. Got this one through Libby. Was happy to find out this auther is Canadian.
Have you read this book? What did you think of it? No spoilers please.

The plot twist near the end though... bleh! As long as it is similar to the TV series, I know how that turns out.
Excited to continue the series.
4/4
My favorite character from the TV series is Magnus, hoping to see more of him in the next books.
Love the New York setting and find it funny, for some reason, that they mostly get around using the subways.
3/4
I am a sucker for worlds where supernatural beings live in the "real world". The "angels" vs "demons" plot has always interested me.
All the charcters have interesting, differing personalities which I like. The banter between Jace and Clary, and Simon's witty humor are entertaining.
