Over 100 works of art being put up for auction by (cash strapped) Reform-run Kent County Council.
Kent Greens: "While the total financial value of the art is only around £35k, the historic and social value of the art, most of which depicts Kent, is far higher."

Check out our artefact archive!! 🤩
(serious face...)
Archives like ours are filling up fast. Soon there will be no space in Britain to store newly-excavated artefacts and this will be catastrophic for research in archaeology as well as innovation, society, growth and the renewal of nature 😢

Four years ago Russia began it's full scale invasion of Ukraine. They expected it to fall in days. They were wrong. Long live Ukraine.
I've said it before but, in the absence of proper regulation and the licensing of metal detecting, then we must rely on the good old fashioned fairy curses attached to each and every hoard. Let the folk beyond the veil sort it out. 🏺🪙🧚🏼♂️☠️
*Academic sells history off to the highest bidder*
There, BBC, we sorted that headline for you
If he truly feels *a connection* to the find, as the article claims, would he not have donated it to a museum?

As a volunteer archaeologist who has survived a heart attack, this did make me smile 😃
Should we make politicians, especially potential world leaders, take a history test before the elections, to decide if they even qualify?
How much do we think Trump's desire to "own" Greenland is a result of the distortions of the Mercator projection?

Oooh good question for historians and archaeologists... what's the oldest thing you've accidentally been injured by?
I've cut myself with numerous flint flakes and implements ranging from 6000-3500 years old) - I'm sure someone can outdo that...
Something beautiful for the weekend! ✨

Christmas can be a beautiful season, but it can also feel painfully loud when your heart is quiet, tired, or hurting.
If you are alone this Christmas, or struggling in ways others may not see, please know this: you are not failing the season. You are surviving it. And that matters.

Yummy! And if you were to find out that you had any slices that were "left over or stale", I've discovered they are delicious crumbled over a bowl of hot custard. Enjoy.

Nature isn’t a “blocker” – it makes our lives better.
Our coast, countryside, heritage and wildlife underpin our food, water and health and put millions of pounds into the economy. The Government must not weaken the laws that protect them.
How about "Where is our heritage demonstrably most risk from metal detecting"? It isn't lost, it's part of the archaeological record.

In the UK detecting has become this weird sensationalised treasure hunt, where so much emphasis is put on monetary value. That isn't what makes the past interesting.
Denmark has a more robust process, and a better working relationship with the detectorists in general, but still isn't immune 4/
