*If* you are waiting to hear the details of summer school or finalizing other summer plans, just reach out to let us know that you're pretty certain you'll be hanging out with us for the summer, but are still working out the details.

Summer Camp is filling up and we would like to tell our staff how many hours we can provide. Signing up now lets us plan for the summer instead of trying to make it all work last minute to accommodate folks who are scrambling for care.

We'll be doing a lot of discussing of ways to recognize that even as the world is falling apart around us we need to remind ourselves that we are physically safe in the moment. We need to look at what sorts of things we can do instead of despairing over all of the things we have no control over.

We realized that in the era we are in right now it would be good to come together and talk about managing our own emotions and anxieties. This will be less polished and also open to older kids.

Neurospicy Parenting: Bonus Episode
Details are still to come, but we plan to host a bonus discussion on March 4th. This is a sister talk for the following week's discussion of helping our kids manage their feelings and emotions.

Samizdat Bookstore and Teahouse will provide DIY heart-shaped pizzas and pink Boba for the kiddos and STEAM Lab will provide Lego, Magnatile, Minecraft, and Movies. All profits will be donated to Democracy Forward which is an organization funding lawsuits designed to uphold our constitution.

Valentine’s is coming! Parents need a night out and a night off. Also, the world is on fire! and we all want to do *something*. These two events aren’t related in anything but proximity of timing, but we’re not going to let that stop us!

Today we learned about log cabins and building work stones. We looked at Fuller Lodge and the Romero Cabin and made our own log cabin sky scraper and stone walls!

I got my staffing spreadsheet started for summer camps. Now the panic is out of my head and into a computer and I feel like I'm doing *something*.

CITs always have first dibs on available jobs when they turn 14 as they've already been trained and we already have a good understanding of where their strengths are. If you think the CIT program would be a good fit for your kiddo send an email to lasteamlab@gmail.com.

get to play with our stuff, hang out with each other, and go on our field trips. In general we aim for about 50% work and 50% play for this role.

Every year STEAM Lab takes on some number of 12 and 13yo Counselors in Training. This is a non paying (but not costing) position. CITs help keep things tidy, play with kiddos, hold hands while crossing streets etc. In exchange they ...

Hours are flexible, we accommodate summer travel, you can bring your kiddos with you as long as they'll be safe (we don't want babies swallowing marbles), and pay starts at $20/hr depending on how much responsibility you can take on.

STEAM Lab is looking to hire 1-2 adults for this summer. If you know of anyone who is great with energetic children and isn't interested in getting into power struggles over stuff that just doesn't matter and is looking for summer work then send them our way.

I'm going to work on posting over here more as I at least create options to shift away from the more obvious oligarchies.
