15.06.2025 16:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Happy to announce that I created a website of my own β @shouldyouplay.com
02.06.2025 15:30 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 0 π 2if you, like me, have derived significant joy/insight/knowledge from Polygon over the years, please consider donating to support the amazing staff members laid off last week

While saving my work yesterday, I took a lot of joy and pride in revisiting some pieces that I feel stand as testament to how much I grew as an writer and editor over the past 4-plus years.
As promised, a𧡠of some of my favorite pieces from my tenure at Polygon (links in alt text) (1/2)
I'm among the many (many!) Polygon people getting laid off today. I really really really loved getting to be a TV editor, and I hope to do it again soon (in some form; writing/editing/social/homepage/copy editing/what have you!). Not much else to say beyond: open for work and hire all my colleagues!
01.05.2025 19:46 β π 264 π 63 π¬ 15 π 6You work long enough in this business, you eventually get caught up in layoffs. Today I lost my job at Vulture, the best gig Iβve ever had. When I stop crying I know Iβll want to write again so please keep me in mind for freelance work or regular work or just general nice messages.
01.05.2025 21:58 β π 1057 π 95 π¬ 122 π 23chelsea hired me as an intern and basically started my career. when I had to take two emergency weeks off due to my health, she supported me and helped me finish out my internship, which I've never forgotten. she's been a mentor and friend since, and has helped countless careers flourish
01.05.2025 21:14 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0i leave this, prob my fave post of ours ever www.polygon.com/2019/6/19/18...
01.05.2025 20:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0literally idk what to say about Petrana β we came to Polygon together in 2018 as interns, and since then, I've been so proud to see her continue writing some of the funniest, fandom knowledgeable, and touching criticism online. she's an amazing writer and I'm so happy that we are friends :')
01.05.2025 20:43 β π 14 π 3 π¬ 2 π 0By now you've probably heard the news: Polygon has been sold to Valnet and I, along with most of my wonderful colleagues, have been laid off.
That said, I'm now open to new opportunities! If you've enjoyed my work and would like to work together in any capacity, please feel to hit me up via my DMs!
lol I will say that one way you can help me specifically and concretely is by buying a copy of Year of the Ring in North America if you haven't already: www.polygon.com/24156672/pol...
01.05.2025 16:02 β π 131 π 40 π¬ 3 π 5If you need short term work to tide you over you can hit me up with gaming feature pitches at mkim@ign.com
01.05.2025 18:40 β π 145 π 103 π¬ 3 π 2ana has done incredible work at Polygon β she's done culture coverage, games coverage, guides, and brought light to a lot of stories that simply don't get covered elsewhere. I am grateful for the time that we spent working together and you should absolutely hire her ASAP
01.05.2025 18:24 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Julia will never say this so Iβll say it for her: when I worked for Polygon, she was responsible for not just the biggest Polygon article, but the NUMBER 1 MOST CLICKED ARTICLE ON ALL OF VOX MEDIA. She was single-handedly paying all of our salaries. Hire Julia.
01.05.2025 17:31 β π 2224 π 408 π¬ 7 π 0i'm so sorry nicole. was so excited for you to be back and i'm so sorry that this happened
01.05.2025 18:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0julia writes the best guides, something I say not only as a friend but as someone who is too dumb to play video games. her guides havecarried me through genshin impact/ff7 rebirth/tears of the kingdom/tons of stuff.
legit cannot overstate how good she is at this. you should hire her immediately
I'm getting more sad about getting laid off. My work means so much to me. I'm a really good reporter. I've been getting scoops every single week lately, while also doing in-depth, award-winning reporting. I have good ideas!

Woke up in a lovely bed and breakfast today on a lovely vacation to find out a place I've loved to work for just over a decade has been dismembered in minutes.
Just wanted to join the chorus to say that I've been let go from Vox Media on May Day, along with a great team doing great stuff.
crawling back to bsky to pasta this from my twitter:
just like my coworkers, i've been laid off from polygon after it got sold (and now gutted i guess)
obvs if you need a guides writer who loves organization, spreadsheets, and comes with all her own equipment, let me know!
also hire my coworkers
I had a great time working at Polygon. Please let me know if you have any cool job openings!
01.05.2025 15:10 β π 429 π 81 π¬ 28 π 2i was just thinking earlier this week "man, i love my job and i'm so excited to jump into summer blockbuster season!"
... and now i dont have my job so :)
I'll say more later, but I no longer have a job. I'm looking for work, as are *so* many of my amazing colleagues. I have lots of ideas and things I'd like to write. I'm really in shock.
01.05.2025 15:29 β π 1871 π 521 π¬ 175 π 34I am among the MANY folks who got laid off today. Don't have anything good or thoughtful to say on it atm. gutted, sad, feel completely fucked. Fuck vox media management forever. they did this shit on may day. vox media union forever.
01.05.2025 15:31 β π 2262 π 335 π¬ 39 π 10Along with just about everyone else at Polygon, I am now out of a job, ending over a decade at Vox Media for me. Working at Polygon was a wonderful experience, and I'm proud of the work we did there. I will be looking for work, as well as starting my own project(s) on the side. Stay tuned!
01.05.2025 15:31 β π 374 π 80 π¬ 41 π 13Hard to put into words how heartbroken I am by this news, for my brilliant friends and former colleagues at Polygon, and for the loss of a genuinely incredible website. They all deserve infinitely better than this. just absolutely gutted kotaku.com/polygon-sold...
01.05.2025 15:40 β π 8 π 1 π¬ 0 π 1today is my last day at Business Insider!
more on what's next soon, but for now grateful to have spent five years β an eternity!!!!!! β writing about TV/movies/dumb internet stuff with some of the best in the biz.
Almost two weeks ago, I found out I was one of 40 people getting laid off from NBC News.
Those who know me know Iβve wanted to go independent for a long time. Later this month, Iβm launching @spitfirenews.com. We need journalism that is louder than ever.
