Their findings were stark: in 89% of scenarios, the net economic value of allowing copper-nickel mining in the Superior National Forest would be negative, meaning the losses to recreation and tourism would outweigh the mining jobs created.

While we're at it, let me bring your attention to H.J.Res.140. In Jan, congress introduced a way to open the protected Boundary Waters in MN to a Chilean copper mining co. If this loophole works, they can use to sell off ANY public land.

they are also EXTREMELY important carbon sinks. these old forests are incredibly effective at removing co2 from the air. this would be yet another thing that drives us further into the no return of climate change.

For ppl who aren't aware:
Old temperate forests are insanely rare nowadays and extremely important ecosystems lost forever once cut.
They're not just "old trees" but intricate networks of trees, fungi and all kinds of living creatures.
You CANNOT replant this!! Once it's gone it's lost FOREVER!!!

i would literally rather die than kill a kid and these people won't endure social strife to avoid it. i dont get it. absolutely fucking horrific.
