Stein marks first 100 days with wins — so far. Tough tests are coming. In an interview with Carolina Public Press, Stein revisits his recent successes while looking ahead to what he still wants to accomplish.

I spoke with Josh Stein about what he's accomplished during his first 100 days in office, the ongoing Helene recovery efforts and what comes next for the first-term governor.

'I want to build bridges': Lt. Gov. Rachel Hunt on being a unifier, leader and daughter of a Democratic icon In statewide office for the first time, Hunt handles her role with a certain ease. But then, she's no stranger to how Raleigh works.

Read my profile of new Lieutenant Gov. Rachel Hunt — Josh Stein's second-in-command who is determined to return normalcy to the office. And if her last name sounds familiar, that's because her dad served as N.C.'s governor for a record 16 years.

The final Helene damage and needs assessment was just published by the NC Office of State Budget and Management: www.osbm.nc.gov/hurricane-he...

It lists an expected federal contribution of $25.9 billion, which means N.C. expects Gov. Roy Cooper’s federal funding request to be carried out in full.

NC storm relief dollars depend on political deal-making in DC, Raleigh Expected federal appropriations measure the best bet for NC storm relief dollars in 2024 beyond rainy-day fund moves in state bill.

It’s increasingly likely that Congress will approve billions in disaster relief next week. Meanwhile, the #ncga is embroiled in a political fight over their own “relief” bill.

Did homes along lake have to flood? Residents and Duke Energy disagree. Federal agency hasn't yet weighed in on whether Duke's timing of water releases from dams near Mountain Island Lake was managed properly.

Consider my latest story for your evening read:

Residents of Mountain Island Lake claim Duke Energy has repeatedly mismanaged lake levels, causing major floods that destroyed and swept away multiple homes.

Republican NC lawmakers vote to strip power from newly elected Democrats, including governor Republican state lawmakers want to strip power from Gov.-elect Josh Stein and other newly elected Democratic state officials, including by shifting oversight of elections from the governor’s appointee...

Bill to take power from incoming elected Democrats passed the #ncga House tonight, with three Republicans from mountain counties joining Democrats in voting no. Unless they flip, that could impact veto override prospects: www.wunc.org/politics/202... #ncpol
