13.01.2026 07:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I grew up in Stoke on Trent where we ate Staffordshire oatcakes for breakfast. We bought ours from a house in the next street where they were made in the front room!
10.01.2026 12:10 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I get so fed up at this time of year when almost all the recipes have some form of nuts in them. Ground almonds are a total pain
03.01.2026 17:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Nope. Watching my dad crumble away in his 90s there's no way i want to be around that long.
03.01.2026 08:48 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Watch out for the almonds.
03.01.2026 08:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hmmmm. Yet another recipe with almonds. Nut allergy in my household so nope to this one.
I really wish someone would come up with an alternative to ground almonds in recipes

Every year my road does a Christmas lights turn on. We all do it together then gather around a tree for mulled wine, hot chocolate and mince pies.
30.11.2025 20:05 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Even now if you are sewing something very firm ( like a stiff leather) you might use a bradawl to make the actual hole then the needle to pull the thread through. Maybe that's how fragile bone needles worked too
29.11.2025 17:02 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My local park has quite a few flitting about in the conifers. I am often found standing there watching carefully. Easy to hear them, hard to see!
28.11.2025 09:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0There are lots of them in my local park. I can hear them easily but I do get some funny looks standing under the trees trying to spot them
22.11.2025 11:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This is the price for all the new technology and most people are totally unaware of it. Creating a fun AI avatar, mini clip or tik tok story and so much more all requires energy. We are all merrily fiddling away on our phones while Rome burns
13.11.2025 16:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Going to TN on a teacher exchange with my staple gun for wall displays. Apparently they call them tackers....
12.11.2025 07:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I remember stranded colour work which we all called fairisle at the time was hugely popular in the late 70s/80s.
Usually 4 ply and although beautiful very time consuming. Plus if your tension wasn't great it became stiff and uncomfortable to wear.
Enter Icelandic jumpers...chunky, soft and easy.Joy!
