I read this during lockdown, a rich and tightly constructed novel- ideal for when you cannot get out into nature so much!

I fell asleep to this last night, but it was fascinating up to the point where i lost consciousness! Will need to try to pick up the second half. Resisted the temptation to snuggle down in the duvet and start saying ’postman’!

A rust-coloured, tall sculpture by Halima Cassell in the garden of the Hepworth Gallery, Wakefield, with Stu - a blonde haired person squeezing their face in the corner for a selfie

Halima Cassell sculptures are ace!

That 12” of 2 Tribes was great. chilling even with Mr Brittas narrating most of it. Is it the best 12” ever though? Does it have Stealin’ as a b side?

Title page of the memoir’Nina Simone’s Gum’ by Warren Ellis, signed by the author

I read #NinaSimone ‘s Gum by @warrenellis.bsky.social today. Fabulous book i have meant to read for ages. Just gone for a run listening to her Philips recordings and heard Pirate Jenny in a whole new light. Wondering if the recording of the Meltdown concert has appeared yet.

My mum died of alzheimer’s early Tuesday. My head is a mess. I wrote this poem after visiting the @foundlingmuseum.bsky.social @poetrywales.bsky.social published it. It’s weird to be posting this. I am reading Joyce’s Dubliners at the moment, in a roundabout way it has prompted me to do so.

@vickymackenzie.bsky.social finished your book this afternoon. So beautiful to read, so well balanced. I live about a 10 min walk from Julian’s church - could picture the streets so well. The line about the cabbages when Margery is travelling to Norwich made me laugh!

Some pics from @listencambridge.bsky.social last night. Elliot Galvin, Ruth Goller, Sebastian Roachford & Mandhira De Saram made some incredible sonic art! The original congregation of the beautiful Unitarian Church would be amazed to hear such sounds from instruments they recognise.

A Hardback copy of The Space Trilogy, by C S Lewis, on a yellow tablecloth.

I read the Space Trilogy over Christmas. They are not perfect books, but when they are good they are good. That Hideous strength was my favourite of them, evoking memories of reading Wyndham, Orwell and Susan Cooper. Will tune in!
