The Ashford Mill Ruins are the remains of a 1914–1915 gold processing facility in southern Death Valley. Located 121 feet below sea level on Badwater Road, the mill processed ore from the Golden Treasure Mine, situated 5 miles east in the Amargosa Range. Superbloom 2016

Morning palette in the desert. The contrast between the ancient stone and those soft, pastel clouds never gets old.

Waking up before dawn to catch a sunrise in Monument Valley is an unforgettable experience. Standing alone in silence as the sky paints itself with pink and orange is breathtaking—a true natural wonder.

Sitting Hen

If you are visiting Monument Valley, you can easily spot the Setting Hen as you drive toward the park entrance on US-163; it stands as one of the sentinel-like guardians of the valley's northern gateway.

Perched in Death Valley’s Cottonwood Mountains, the Lost Burro Mine is a haunting 1906 gold rush relic. Found after a prospector’s burro wandered off, it features an intact stamp mill and cabins. It’s silent, remote, and feels like history just stopped. 🌵⚒️

Monument Valley (Tsé Biiʼ Ndzisgaii, meaning “Valley of the Rocks”) lies within Diné ancestral lands. The towering buttes are considered part of a holy geography tied to Navajo origin stories and spiritual teachings. The land itself is alive and imbued with power.

The Fremont style is a distinctive form of ancient rock art found across the interior Southwest—especially in what’s now Utah, along with parts of Colorado, Nevada, and Idaho. It’s associated with the Fremont culture, which flourished roughly A.D. 300–1300.
