"if the state won't take responsibility, i'm fine with the state charging civilians with murder" is not the argument you think it is

parents should be held accountable for parenting. there are other ways to hold people accountable than convicting them of a murder they didn't commit, had no knowledge of, and didn't intentionally encourage. teachers and admin are tasked with far too much. this does nothing to alleviate that.

Father’s Murder Conviction in School Attack Puts New Onus on Parents

can't even begin to convey the horrific precedent this sets, what a devastating verdict that conveniently lets every lawmaker off the hook for the scourge of violence they've enabled www.nytimes.com/2026/03/03/u...

kind of crazy that if you have enough money and don't like what you see in the media, you can just buy up every film studio, news station, and social media app and change it

Photo shows my hand holding two paperback copies of “There is No Place for Us: Working and Homeless in America” by Brian Goldstone.

A small auditorium at the Auburn Avenue Research Library in Atlanta is in the background with a stage at the rear, hung with red curtains.

Seated at the Auburn Avenue Research Library for the conversation between @brian-goldstone.bsky.social & @jduffyrice.bsky.social for the paperback edition of “There is No Place for Us: Working and Homeless in America.” Thank you, Charis Books & Charis Circle!

"Prosecutors sought to have his case dismissed without prejudice, allowing them to later re-charge him. But the judge rejected that request, citing the defendant’s arguments that “future prosecution may be politically motivated” – a claim that, the judge noted, the government had not contested."

CHOTINER: And the pizza place, what’s it called?

ME: Dominos.

CHOTINER: Right. And you can order from your laptop?

ME: Yeah. Well, I can also use my phone. Sometimes that’s quicker.

CHOTINER: And all the food in your fridge and pantry. When do you eat that?

ME: Now hang on a second,

They said "free speech" and "academic freedom" but never believed in either and now in texas you need a permission slip to mention race in class and they're fine with it. Might not have worked if people with large platforms weren't furious about marginal increases of black people in their offices

btw the civility panic a few years ago was about precisely this: the ability to have polite conversations about how black people are racially inferior in public without criticism or backlash bsky.app/profile/hann...
