Men are raised from birth with overwhelming social and cultural programming to be dominant and assertive over women. They are taught early and often that they are not real men if they are not complicit in this

I think a lot of it starts in childhood, and I wonder if there’s any utility in role playing with blind testing, like have men randomly assigned to female identities in a digital space, and then see how they are treated. I don’t know how else to make them “get it”. I “got it”, but I’m also not a man

Heck, my favorite sports podcast did a show recently where they played listener calls. There is a male slant to the hobby, but I noticed 100% of the 20-40 calls played were men (except for me, a trans woman). Idk if no women submitted or none were selected or what. And these are really good guys too

Frankly, if you are able to look at feminism in the same way that you look at any given revolution, and understand that the reprisals/violence, while sad but inevitable, you will come to believe that if anything, men are getting off easy. But that’s because we don’t believe in collective punishment.

And as leftists who care about equality, we need to hold space for that. We need to give grace to women who don’t always communicate to men in the most effective means. When you’ve communicated every way you know how for 5000 years and been ignored until the last 50 or so, that’s kind of what you do

Women on the other hand, resigned over thousands of years of collective trauma at the hands of male violence, understand intuitively that they have no rights and that their voices do not matter. Feminism is a rebellion against 5000 year-old injustice. We are living through that reckoning right now.

As someone who is literally been on both sides of this issue, there is a fundamental communication gap and something is not getting through from the female to the male side. And that is most men, even men who are on the left, have not fully processed and destroyed the entitlement they feel to women.

I know this is a touchy, subject and that you’re going to get a lot of feedback for it on here, some of which is unfair, but hey, welcome to saying things on bsky.

So like, is Nicene Christianity dead? Kind of yeah. But the parables of Jesus and the words of the prophets, the tradition surrounding the practice, all of those are very much salvageable because they address real earthly issues even today.

To put it simply; the belief in the resurrection and the divinity of Christ are the main reasons why Christianity became popular, but they are also the parts that hollow out the spiritual power and moral authority of the teachings and render them fragile and inert in the modern era.

…with the parts of the faith that are considered “mandatory” for determining Christian vs “follower of Jesus”. Namely the resurrection of the body and the trinity.

And yet we know that these latter articles of faith are the exact reason why the religion became so widespread in the first place.

As are the later “high christologies” that elevated Jesus to divinity, which we now know were later inventions of his followers.

Fundamentally the contradiction Christianity has to grapple with as a doctrine is that the strongest and most profound teachings of the religion are in conflict…

I mean it depends on what you mean by “Christian”, because there’s plenty of thoroughly modern theologies and cosmologies that lend themselves to some aspects of the faith, but the idea that Christ was buried and then the tomb was empty is pretty thoroughly historically discredited
