About time for a pfp update! Happy werewolf season ๐
26.09.2025 00:31 โ ๐ 593 ๐ 70 ๐ฌ 13 ๐ 0Two squirrels sit among a pile of black walnuts. One has paused writing on a little scrap of bark with a stick of charcoal to look suspiciously at the other, which holds a gnawed-on walnut behind its back, its face and hands stained brown from the walnut juice.
Day 1 -- Ink
"It seems we're one walnut short of our quota if we're to have enough ink to write the entire squirrel manifesto. Again. Wouldn't happen to know anything about that?"
"...No."
A deerlike anthro person tightens the saddle of a giant hog that stands a head taller than them. The hog has two tusks growing through the top of its muzzle and curling back toward its skull.
Only a small number of cape hogs bore the recessive trait that caused them to grow an additional pair of ornamental tusks, and of those many were killed for their ivory before growing to maturity ...
02.10.2025 23:23 โ ๐ 917 ๐ 150 ๐ฌ 4 ๐ 0Day 3 -- Specter
Buy the old pig farm they said. It will be FUN they said. It's got GoOd BoNes they said.
Day 4 -- Acorn
One of the more misleadingly-named seasonal fae found in the Fallows, the prolific thimble-sized "acorn spiders" are actually crustaceans.
Day 5 -- Gossamer
Insect wings from the depths of the deep woods made for frail quills, but far and away the best for transcribing spellwork. And they made you feel extra fancy while doing it.
Day 6 -- Hunter's Moon
For hussars in training that lived in the deep woods, under so many layers of canopy no sunlight would reach them, flying during the full moon was the first step toward acclimating to the light levels of the surface world.
A little witch girl carrying a jug of milk is swarmed by black kittens, who scream and climb her overalls because she's not dispensing the milk fast enough
Day 7 -- Feline
Every well educated apprentice witch knows that treats are vital to a familiar's magic focusing abilities ow ow shoot ow dang it ouch
A deerlike anthro fella sits among jars of pigment and paintbrushes, closely focusing on painting filigree on the head of a yet-to-be-assembled automaton, which resembles a horned deer wearing goggles
Day 8 -- Clockwork
Automatons by no means needed to be ornamental, but artisans of the deep woods didn't tend to understand concepts like "too much."
Day 9 -- Blood
As a commonly shared celebratory drink at gatherings and feasts, so-called "yotie wine" was made from the fermented blood of any beast large enough to make for a satisfying hunt, mixed with just enough anticoagulant venom to give it a kick.
Day 10 -- Lantern
Stained glass lanterns are often employed by hunters of the deep woods, as the diffused light doesn't stand out as harshly among the phosphorescence below the canopy, allowing them to travel without alerting the wildlife.
Day 11 -- Sweet
Oleaster berries were harvestable for a short time in the autumn months. Expert foragers knew to pick only the berries that glowed bright golden when disturbed.
A deerlike anthro woman sips tea while reclining with a book, surrounded by oversized mushrooms growing in pots and on the beams of the wall behind her, glowing with warm light and shedding snowflake-sized spores
Day 12 -- Mushroom
Houseplants in the deep woods are more often fungal than floral.
Two rats sit before a phone book and a 1990s style cordless phone, having been trying different number combinations.
Day 13 -- Grimoire
"Can we at least take a break? My hands are tired and my ears are ringing from all the beeps..."
"We can't stop now! Not when we're so close. Not after generations of wisdom passed down from our ancestors who spoke of the power contained in this spellbook. --
A songbird stands on a fallen red leaf, tearing strips of it to tuck between the feathers of its back and tail.
Day 14 -- Foliage
Even the mundane fauna residing in the Fallows hide behavioral quirks that only appear certain times of year, such as the common pied robin, which adorns its feathers with the brightest leaves it can find among the autumn foliage in hopes of attracting a mate.
A woman in hiking clothes carries a wicker backpack containing a giant frog, which snatches a giant mosquito out of the air with its tongue
Day 15 -- Amphibian
The mosquito-infested swamp really wasn't all too dangerous if you brought the right equipment.
A deerlike anthro person uses a machete to slice open a giant pitcher plant stem to stern, watching a pile of digested humanoid bones spill out
Day 16 -- Reclaimed by Nature
Retrieving lost explorers presented a reliable source of income for those who knew the deep woods well, if a bit of a depressing one. These tourists almost never turned up alive.
A mouse bounds through a stubbly post-harvest field with a bundle of grain sprigs in its mouth
Day 17 -- Harvest
Chaff for some is a full pantry for others.
A girl sits facing away from a nest full of eggs, holding up a mirror using it to grab for the eggs while a pair of cockatrices watches curiously.
Day 18 -- Looking Glass
The most irritating part about harvesting cockatrice eggs was remembering your left from your right in a mirror.
A young woman and an older man examine a portrait of the woman that the man has just painted. The woman gestures irately at the portrait, whose features are badly proportioned in a creepypasta sort of way, and the man looks like he doesn't understand what could possibly be wrong with it
Day 19 -- Uncanny
"Okay, what's wrong with it NOW?"
Two deerlike anthro people are at work in a pumpkin patch, the vines as thick as tree trunks and the pumpkins the size of cars. One of them sits with their ear pressed to the side of a pumpkin, tapping it appraisingly with their knuckles, while the other watches with a hand saw slung over their shoulder, waiting for the verdict
Day 20 -- Pumpkin
Some radjurn insisted that even at an excessive scale, the only way to determine if a pumpkin was ready for harvest was with a good knock.
A witch girl is carried along by a stampeding gray mass of rats, delightedly pointing the way and holding onto her pointy hat so it doesn't fly off
Day 21 -- The Horde
First attempt at casting a "summon mount" spell was a swarming, slightly itchy success! Tally-ho!!
A deerlike anthro person struggles with a bison-sized stag beetle; their antlers have gotten tangled together and neither of them seem to know how to fix it
Day 22 -- Antlers
Male beetles were often cheaper to obtain than females due to the sheer impracticality of having a beast of burden with so many chitinous points to snag on every branch and vine it passed by (among other things).
A nest of blankets and pillows contains a dozen or so rodent-like anthro people, all snoozing in a pile. One of them sits up and checks their watch blearily
Day 23 -- Dormant
Further north of Stag's Run, some communities of daurics were known to pass a portion of the winter via hibernation.
One deerlike anthro girl stands on a piano stool wearing a flouncy multilayered pumpkin-themed dress, while another crouches in front of the stool pinning on lace
Day 24 -- Stitched
"...Now I'm SURE this is too much lace."
"Listen, I think the harvest pageant is stupid but no sister of mine is going to be an under-laced Pumpkin Queen."
