It’s a funny thing - to want to have a skull transplant, remove all the stresses of now - but also to want to cling remorselessly to the wonderful people who make up your circle now.

I’ve also been listening to @goonpod.bsky.social’s Yellow Submarine episode and reflecting on how young I was when the message of “YES” got to me.

I’ve had one of those days where I feel awful - sick, a bit mentally off and tired - very tired… but have also heard some great news from and about friends and that really means so much.

Something/one to believe in.

Steve Cropper was an amazing guitarist. He knew when to play, when to groove. Much more of a lasting influence on me (and I'm sure many, many folk) than early obsessions with Hendrix, Clapton and the like.

That finger-picking style is supposedly a result of Donovan's finger-picking, shown to the boys in Rishikesh, so the technique itself is a hangover from that, probably. Part of their composing and playing process from then on.

Took a sideways step from the Anthology to re-watch How I Won The War. It’s still the same mumbling, poetic, flawed, affecting, powerful mess it always was, but I appreciate it more each time I watch it.
