Yeah absolutely destroyed stevedore employment in a decade or so, so you gotta figure there's something there. Unclear if extends broader than that. I don't think so, or at least it's a wash in the north given the labor market mix tending more towards hard-to-automate services.

To counter Trump regime attacks on their public university systems and other institutions, states should issue bonds, hold ballot initiatives, or related measures.
University of California system debt has an AA rating. Resist Trump abuses, support higher ed, and a fairly safe investment all in one.

Screenshot from RFK Jrβs official HHS secretary account that says
Medical decisions should be made based on one thing: the wellbeing of the personβnever on a financial bonus or a government mandate. Doctors deserve the freedom to use their training, follow the science, and speak the truth without fear of punishment.
RFK Jr. posted this with his official govβt account yesterday.
In the video, he says βShould doctors make decisions based on whatβs best for their patients, or based upon what makes them the most money?β.
Hours later a man who believed the COVID19 vaccine harmed him opened fire on the CDC.

The productivity statistics are what they are! Productivity growth is real weak post-1973. Containerization could conceivably boost productivity by making Toyotism-style manufacturing possible. But it's not in the statistics. So it's more likely to lower distribution costs and enable wage arbitrage.

A weird craft profession that revolted during Trump 1, which drove employers insane, and whose wage demands are less sustainable now that the free money is gone. Which is of course an adoption driver independent of any productivity gains.

The other way to slice it is by sector. Most Americans are wiping butts, making food, or watching kids. Not much for AI to do there. I genuinely expect some improvement in software development, because this rationalizes a weird craft profession, but that's not many people.

But if we're judging from history then there's a brief upward productivity blip in the late 90s where a tight labor market intersects with networking buildout--and it's just as likely the former caused the latter. Besides that, no major improvements from every new revolutionary computer widget.

The productivity problem is a difficult measurement problem even before you get to what management says about it. Because if you're gonna do layoffs because of cost pressure, your gonna say it's because of AI, or AI will make up the difference, because that's what the board and the market wants.

Trump will eventually, loudly, proclaim the deals for Palestinian and Ukrainian land as two examples of his acumen, two deals with bloodthirsty conquerors only he could pull off, and there will still be American news outlets and liberal politicians that will ignore any connection between the two

You should cook more turkey outside Thanksgiving. The breast is so large it's fine to roast by itself (although I prefer kenji's turkey porchetta). Braised turkey is terrific throughout Mexican cuisine. Ground turkey is a better than ground chicken and a potential substitute for ground pork
