I kinda hate this trope. “Mainstream media” is drowning because of the economic model and lack of public engagement. Journalism is now a nearly archaic profession with little financial incentive. They gave us much of the story. The political (and marketing) class failed.

The upward redistribution of wealth over the past 50 years has shifted $80 trillion from the bottom 90% of Americans to the top 1%. 

That’s $80 trillion that would have gone into the paychecks of the working class.

The greatest trick of all is trickle-down economics.

While I also get a chuckle from Trump being expertly trolled we should remember that Newsom is a political opportunist who should not be reified and should be regarded with a degree of suspicion by all of us on the left. That said, I am enjoying this play!
