It’s not fine, you’re right. The ethical issues are worrying. I’ll be deleting my account with OpenAI. Hard to find an ethical one. Tried running one locally yesterday on my PC but it was 💩

Nor do I.

I don’t write as clearly as I’d like. Ppl find it difficult to interpret at times. I guess it’s not unexpected. I have had no formal writing training.

I used grammarly to correct text previously but newer Ais are better at flagging incoherencies. It’s a decent learning tool.

Wow. Somebody (me) didn’t check that what they intended to write was actually what was written 🙄

They might pay you the big bucks string as you work the seminal paper on Pokémon; it was very niche.

Something new in @pnas.org from me & @grrlscientist.bsky.social! A commentary on a really neat paper.

Just came across this paper. I reckon the authors had a great laugh deciding on the order Vincent, Van, Goh :-)

For all 6 vegetation modelers on here. I’ve only looked at this briefly, but it looks like a very worthwhile read if you’re interested in root traits and potential linkages with above ground traits.

On the potential for GWAS with phenotypic population means and allele-frequency data (popGWAS)

For completeness, here (doi.org/10.24072/pcj...) is a paper by Markus where he explores the potential of population vs individual genome wide association studies to understand the genetic basis of polygenic traits.

Predicting Forest Tree Leaf Phenology Under Climate Change Using Satellite Monitoring and Population‐Based Genomic Trait Association We studied European beech trees to understand how the interaction between genetics and the environment, particularly climate change, influences the timing of leaf budding and leaf fall. I’m not sure how to judge accessibility and I still struggle with the quant genomics, but this (doi.org/10.1111/gcb....) paper links genomics with leaf phenological timing and this one (doi.org/10.3389/fevo...) links it with drought stress.

Haha, you’ve no choice 🙈😆

I hate “having” to get up at 6am but it’s a pretty nice time of the day a lot of the year. If I could master being asleep by 10 I think it’d be less painful.
