They were already doing a lot of experimenting with MGSD, and they'd already done stuff like Midnight coating and other special coating, no need for that FM Aerial to put them down the path.
Especially since they're probably trying to make a Pearlescent ELS Quant behind the scenes.

This thing is bigger then the Kshatriya, it'd be an absurd amount of plastic, probably more than any other MG.
Looking like the Heavyarms might save it.
I'd guess that it's probably why it was P-Bandai.
It's also significantly more normal then the G-Gundam MF.
Compare it to the G Gundam designs, it looks WAY more like a normal Gundam.
Looks a lot like Heavyarms too, so it's far more likely to sell then say, the Maxter.
They're not like other Gundams, they're testbeds as well as both being "evil", so they both look monstrous.
I personally love them, but I can understand not liking them.
They just stand out so much when you put them next to the far too many basic Gundams that aren't that different from gramps.
No they wouldn't, this played a bit part in like less than half of a movie that didn't have it as a headliner.
Wedge of Interposition is like 10 minutes and this is in it for like less than 5 minutes.
