Pokemon is actually the franchise that got me to amend my "graphics don't matter" philosophy to "graphics don't matter, provided that there are no major visual glitches or errors" because hopy shit pokemon

i think it would be very healthy for people to learn the difference of "games dont need crazy graphics to be good" and "this shit is escaping even the style they set it to be"

And this is assuming that Gamefreak is held hostage by Nintendo and the Pokemon Company, when as far as I know they're equal partners in the arrangement and should theoretically have the power to slow down the release cycle.

But, like, do they want to? Gamefreak seems pretty content.

Pokemon would benefit from a much smaller scope that matches Gamefreak's context and strengths as developers. I don't see any other way beyond expanding the company into dev teams

That's what I mean, Gamefreak got the time that they got. They're never going to get a longer development cycle. Which means that as rough and unfinished as S/V were, they were as good as Gamefreak could ever make them.

What I'm saying is that Gamefreak needs to work with their enforced short cycle

I really want that too, but the fact that they DONT give them time to cook is very well established by now, and yet Game Freak keeps going for projects that take waaaaay more time to pan out then they know they'll be given.

Scarlet and Violet were as good as they could have been and that's awful.

someone please slap gamefreak and tell them to pick a setting and environment that works within the technical limitations of their competence
