05.12.2025 02:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It truly sucks that it falls on the consumer to do extra work so they don't get ripped off, and that those who profit from the practice are usually already billionaires. Both the chains I mentioned tend to pop up in low income areas, and IMO, squeezing already struggling folks is beyond immoral.
05.12.2025 02:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I have a suggestion. Nearly all of us carry a camera around in our pockets all the time now. Using it to photograph signs as you shop should be enough to stop hidden mark-ups. Maybe not, but if enough people are a gigantic pain in the ass about it, the scam stops being profitable.
05.12.2025 02:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0By now, you've all probably heard about WalMart removing prices from tags on items, which makes it harder to object when the item rings up at a higher price at the register. I've just seen a video claiming that Dollar General is using this kind of bait and switch pricing, too. 1/4
05.12.2025 02:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I have a few questions for all of you.
1. What is the most vivid dream you've had?
2. Do you lucid dream?
3. Do you taste and/or smell things in your dreams?
4. Any recurring dreams, sleepwalking/talking, or sleep paralysis?
5. Have you ever had a predictive dream?
Things that will bother me for the rest of my life, part 76498: we ate at Bay City on one of their last days in business, last week. I left a $30 tip. The amount on my credit card statement does not reflect this. I really hope that waitress didn't get stiffed.
30.10.2025 11:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If we little people decide not to do, or are incapable of doing, the most important function of our jobs, we lose those jobs.
If we go on strike, we do not get paid.
No elected officials are losing any pay over the current shutdown.
Tired of the double standard? Vote them out.
Banana pepper. I never saw one that wasn't pickled and sliced. There are many growing outside my house right now. @state-of-the-art.bsky.social laughed and asked if it smelled hot when I sniffed it. (It smelled like a green pepper would.)

26.05.2025 15:33 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0In their silence against Trump, business leaders are saying their fear and idolatry of the dollar trumps all. Their silence is cowardice.

The mulch outside my husband's window has become the red light district for local birds. At least they don't smoke, after.
23.04.2025 11:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Very proud of everyone I saw at the #handsoff protest in York today! We were just driving through, but seeing so many people peacefully expressing what they want from their government did my heart good.

05.04.2025 08:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm listening at work, and dammit, you made me cry! Probably not a normal reaction, and not cheese-related. Texting "penetrated by cheese" to my husband without explanation was the high point of yesterday. Looking forward to meeting you tomorrow, anyway.
02.04.2025 13:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Having a discussion about this with Erin, on FB. We just cancelled a trip to Costa Rica for this same reason. I wouldn't mind being stranded in another country, it's ICE. I would not survive a two week separation from my medication. (No thyroid gland) I was really excited about this trip.

If this was your grandfather, you'd take away the car keys and arrange for round the clock care. This is elder abuse, and making policy based on it is insanity.

22.02.2025 03:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If this really is the end of How We've Always Done Things, for this country, maybe something great could rise from the ashes. But Gen X gets screwed again. We never had a great job market, but we survived. We aren't young, though, and a collapse wouldn't leave us much time to rebuild our lives.

I was with him until the end. Plenty of us spoke out, early and often, but here we are.
So, a billionaire, who made his money directly from the suffering of us "little people," has been shot. Wealth inequality in this country is beyond extreme, with the top 10% owning almost 2/3 of the total wealth.
Isn't this how the Russian revolution started?
