Indeed - and too much emphasis on 'proving' things using methods they know cannot keep up, when it would be far more honest/simple to state it's obviously all bl**dy climate change now.
26.07.2025 22:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It might help if climate coverage 'leaders' like the Guardian - not to mention most leading scientists and especially the IPCC (present company excepted), told the truth about how bad they know things really are. open.substack.com/pub/jacksond...

Scientists and especially the IPCC massively underestimate speed of climate change and related risks - shock. Because their methods very obviously can't keep up. Will these people ever learn? open.substack.com/pub/jacksond...
26.07.2025 21:49 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Because global net-zero - an impossible target (without radical, massive reductions in activity no-one is planning) supposed to prevent us breaching a temp limit by 2100 we've already smashed through - is so meaningful. Farcical.

More proof - as if it were needed - of how far off the models are, especially those relied on by the IPCC. Not sure, however, about the 'optimistic' (complacent?) suggestion acceleration may be short-lived...

11.07.2025 07:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Another deeply concerning feedback loop reducing the CO2-absorption capacity of natural sinks - don't expect IPCC models or net-zero plans to reflect this any time soon. Also ignore pathetic fake-hopeful message about breeding 'resistant strains' saving all the forests - idiots.
10.07.2025 19:52 β π 3 π 3 π¬ 0 π 0Yes it is. Still the Guardian can't stop itself finishing the article with an absurd 'hopeful' message about breeding resistant new strains or whatever, not remotely applicable on a planetary scale, if at all. Idiots.
10.07.2025 19:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Unbelievably complacent. Unbelievably misleading. The vast majority of global energy use is from fossil fuels. 'Renewables' are additional not alternative to these. Only drastic cuts in consumption/destruction could do anything now. But the green 'industry' can't tell you that.
10.07.2025 19:40 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That will make all the difference of course. Scientists - especially climate scientists and the IPCC - urgently need to find effective ways of communicating how bad, they know, things really are. open.substack.com/pub/jacksond...
09.07.2025 17:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks but with genuine respect - who do the authors think will pay the slightest attention to this warning in this form? All the evidence shows the answer is no-one. Way more radical action/comms are urgently needed (as per suggestions in article posted) but starting with calling out the IPCC.

04.07.2025 13:17 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Why does everyone remain so f*cking calm?
@ghostpanther.bsky.social
@weareyellowdot.bsky.social
www.levernews.com/remaining-ca...
Big part of the reason is the determination of the IPCC and most senior scientists not to cause alarm, on the psychologically-stupid premise this could cause inaction. Inevitably this has instead contributed to most people having no idea how bad things are - and inappropriate levels of calm.
04.07.2025 13:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Who could Jim and Mike possibly be?! π€ π
04.07.2025 13:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Well yes, those of us with the privilege of both the time and enough P/G education can understand the problems with the IPCC. But it's their job to make the truth about climate-change accessible to all - and they are wilfully failing to do so.
28.06.2025 19:19 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0As for your use of the word 'conservative' to describe the IPCCs failure to advise humanity about how urgent and serious the situation really is, and what meaningful action therefore needs to look like - it's not 'conservative' at all, it's negligent and it's reckless on a scale never seen before.
28.06.2025 13:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You didn't read Michael Mann claim we were at +1.1'C in article in 'The Hill' i.e. addressed to the public, in December 2023? To name one of literally countless examples. You're either turning a blind eye or being deliberately obtuse - either way doesn't help.
