This combined with the fact that if a person is dehydrated and they rehydrate with SSBs that leads to increased kidney injury!

In this new paper led by Amanda McGrosky, we demonstrate that #water needs are substantially higher among pastoralists living in a hot, semi-arid environment than worldwide water recommendations.

What's the deal with electrolyte drinks β€” do you need them to stay hydrated? Seems like nobody's drinking plain water these days. Electrolyte packets or colorful sports drinks are everywhere. But do you need them?

Excited to share our paper in the Aug issue of Hypertension! Shockingly no health standards exist for sodium & chloride in drinking water, only palatability standards. We show water NaCl is assoc w higher BP, hypertension & albuminuria w effects below palatability

The Epidemic Intelligence Service was incredibly formative for me & 2 of the best years of my career. This is such a travesty and utterly thoughtless. EIS is the best of the best. They are losing those who could go into medicine, industry, etc & instead choose to make less to serve public health

The abrupt terminations of more than 1,000 employees, including new Epidemic Intelligence Officers, across CDC are deeplyβ€―disturbing. For more than 70 years, EIS officers have served on America’s front line as its disease detectives, ready at a moment’s notice to respond to emerging outbreaks.
