The 16 and then some
07.08.2025 16:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Nice to see the six regular tern species all together at Tyninghame this afternoon, inc ad Black, 12 Roseate (6 juvs), 5 Little (1 juv) and 60+ Arctic. A smart ad Long-tailed Skua north past White Sands at 17:20 #birdinglothian
24.07.2025 18:48 β π 77 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0A rare visit to the Clyde west coast for the county year list made for a great birthday. Eight year ticks including 17 Common Scoter and a surprise Storm Petrel were great bonus birds, the latter only a 7th record for Clyde! #Clydebirding #BirdingScotland
22.06.2025 18:01 β π 20 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Good to see you too
31.05.2025 08:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Great shots John!
27.05.2025 19:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I had a quick dash to Maiden's in Ayrshire this afternoon with Andy & Kris. The rain stayed off & the bird ( Western Sandpiper) showed well.

You'd be amazed at the level of disturbance they can tolerate. Main issue they have is corvids and the eggs being accidentally trampled or eaten by dogs. I've seen chicks fledge a couple of times in areas where they were completely up against it on a daily basis.
17.05.2025 11:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I know the feeling. A minimum of 8 birds I initially picked up as potential YLG candidates at Strathclyde CP in the past winter that ended up being Herring x LBBG. The number of hours wasted in said encounters...
Seen one of those hybrids mating with a LBBG recently which adds to the fun!
Had another productive visit to RSPB Baron's Haugh this evening. A female Little Ringed Plover was joined by a male and soon after a Wood Sandpiper was calling overhead before dropping in. My second here this spring. #Clydebirding #BirdingScotland
29.04.2025 21:30 β π 20 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0The Wood Sandpiper was a one day bird so it could quite possibly be on a bog up north/west already.
23.04.2025 20:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0On a post work visit to RSPB Baron's Haugh late this afternoon, it was good to see the smart breeding plumaged Green Sandpiper and ever better to find this Wood Sandpiper had joined it. Great views from the old Phoenix Hide area. #Clydebirding #BirdingScotland
22.04.2025 17:58 β π 54 π 3 π¬ 1 π 0First seen 10 minutes from home, it's a bit of a shame this White Stork went wandering and I had to leave Clyde to see it. Seen just north of Linlithgow this morning. #BirdingScotland
20.04.2025 19:08 β π 24 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Portknockie is worth a visit for the Divers plus nesting seabirds, one of the more scenic spots along that coastline.
20.04.2025 18:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Four Little Ringed Plovers at RSPB Baron's Haugh this evening, the first time I've seen more than one there.

03.04.2025 21:03 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0A rare five Grebe day in Clyde kicked off by the stunning Black-necked Grebe at Ardmore Point, soon followed by Slav and Great Crested Grebe.
Moving inland to Hogganfield Loch, the Red-necked Grebe showed well with Little Grebe present too. #Clydebirding #BirdingScotland
Looks like one of those strange 'intersex plumaged' Teals in the background of the third photo.
02.03.2025 23:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This was purely accidental but I suspect somewhere between 1/20 and 1/40 is the shutter speed to aim for.
02.03.2025 20:16 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Cheers Rick, good old phonescoping slow shutter speed helped with that one!
02.03.2025 18:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A Great White Egret and Med Gull Gull from Forrestburn Reservoir this afternoon. Both birds on the increase locally. #Clydebirding #BirdingScotland
02.03.2025 17:37 β π 39 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0The Strathclyde bird was a 1st winter. We had it again recently so it's somehow still feeding.

11.02.2025 16:14 β π 6 π 3 π¬ 0 π 0The Cornwall Booted Eagle showed brilliantly this morning, what a stunner! #UKbirding #RareBirdsUK

06.02.2025 15:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Got lucky with the Ring-billed Gull at Strathclyde Loch this afternoon. As soon as I picked it up on the water, it got up and started flying around and was soon spiralling high over the beach car park.
Not an easy bird to see this winter! #Clydebirding #BirdingScotland #RareBirdsUk
Some quality #Clydebirding this afternoon when the wintering Yellow-legged Gull landed in the fields at Newshot Island. It soon joined the bread feeding.
The drake American Wigeon and female Scaup were year ticks too. #BirdingScotland
@wilsonjaredm.bsky.social could you add the Clyde birding tag above to the Birding Scotland tags? There's a few of the locals on here and using this one now.
26.01.2025 21:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0An early start at Strathclyde Loch to see the fallout from Storm Eowyn. The result...a stunning 1st winter Little Gull. Not what I had in mind but still very nice to see.
#BirdingScotland #Clydebirding
Best of luck, you've got about 2 months before they leave again.
