3 Northern Long-tailed Tits showing well on Yell today. Got a feeling there may be a few decent photos of these birds appearing, as they're very accommodating! 😎👍 #YellBirding #Shetland #RareBirdsUK #Birdguides

Northern Long tailed Tits are still a rare bird in UK. #shetlandbirding

I was standing near Daniel Gebauer when the Siberian Thrush broke cover and gave startled birders a rapid flyby at Asta yesterday. Beaming from ear to ear, he then showed several of us this stunning image he captured. Absolutely insane! Well done Daniel #ukbirding #birdingScotland

14.09.2025 14:56 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Today, it not only rained heavily, but it rained Curlew Sandpipers!
At least 93 juveniles at Ardivichar, with 40+ at Northbay!
A flock of around 100 in Northbay arrived in torrential rain but was unsure if Ardivichar birds were also involved?

6 Sep. Musselburgh. Juv/1st-w Marsh Sandpiper at Morrison's Haven scrape - found by Mervyn. Also White-winged Scoter still, Black Guillemot, 4 Curlew Sandpiper. #BirdingLothian

A well timed heavy rain shower might work wonders locally.

You'd be amazed at the level of disturbance they can tolerate. Main issue they have is corvids and the eggs being accidentally trampled or eaten by dogs. I've seen chicks fledge a couple of times in areas where they were completely up against it on a daily basis.
17.05.2025 11:57 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I know the feeling. A minimum of 8 birds I initially picked up as potential YLG candidates at Strathclyde CP in the past winter that ended up being Herring x LBBG. The number of hours wasted in said encounters...
Seen one of those hybrids mating with a LBBG recently which adds to the fun!
Had another productive visit to RSPB Baron's Haugh this evening. A female Little Ringed Plover was joined by a male and soon after a Wood Sandpiper was calling overhead before dropping in. My second here this spring. #Clydebirding #BirdingScotland

03.04.2025 21:03 — 👍 2 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0A rare five Grebe day in Clyde kicked off by the stunning Black-necked Grebe at Ardmore Point, soon followed by Slav and Great Crested Grebe.
Moving inland to Hogganfield Loch, the Red-necked Grebe showed well with Little Grebe present too. #Clydebirding #BirdingScotland
Looks like one of those strange 'intersex plumaged' Teals in the background of the third photo.
