I spoke too soon. It turns out that the legislature actually won't return until March 23.

Bloc wants Liberal bill amended to remove religious exemption from hate speech laws: source | CBC News The Bloc QuΓ©bΓ©cois is planning to introduce an amendment to a Liberal government bill that would remove a religious exemption from Canada’s hate speech laws, a source has told CBC News.

The entire bill is redundant (covered in the CCC) and why the @blocquebecoiis.bsky.social isn’t asking for its entire withdrawal is beyond me. It is terrible legislation, a religious exemption for Jews to torture Palestinians should be your first clue. #cdnpoli

Can @thestar.com un-paywall this article which is arguably the most important Carney story of the Budget?

Premier David Eby, speaking now, cites PM Carney's comments from earlier this week that pipeline would have to have agreement from B.C. and First Nations.

"This project does not have the support of Coastal First Nations," he says. Adds no proponent, no route, no money.

I feel so awful for the French to English translator on this NDP debate. When the French is incomprehensible, how do you translate?

I also hate I can’t just listen to it in the language they are speaking. I understand both. Let me listen to both without translation. @ndp.ca

Carney’s Alberta pipeline deal weakens climate policies | The Narwhal Prime Minister Mark Carney’s β€˜grand bargain’ isn’t just about an Alberta pipeline β€”it also proposes rolling back a host of climate policies

The pipeline’s just the start:

#Carney’s deal with #Alberta weakens (at least) 7 climate policies.

For those that support #climateaction, this is relevant.

Avi is the only one who feels like he could stand on a stage and debate with Carney or Poilievre.

The other three… seem like nice people.

I tuned in late so about an hour behind but the lack of French language from so many of them is not great.

None of them are shining up for me as leaders so far…

Tuning into @ndp.ca debate a bit late

15 minutes in and the only person who seems to understand they are running for a federal leadership is @avilewis.ca

And the French is just… how do you honestly run for leadership when you cannot even speak the bare minimum of one Canadas official languages.

I did a deep-dive into Ben Mulroney's extracurricular activities:

At the same time as Mulroney is filling-in as host of The West Block, he is also working for two registered lobby groups and as an adviser to several companies – some of whose CEOs he's interviewed on Global News 640 Toronto radio

What folks need to understand is that WAGE is a - major - funder of community organizations in Canada. My sector clamours every time there's a call for proposals.

And the number one determinant of gender equity in a country is how strong its civil society organizations are.

It's insulting that we have a legal system that doesn't understand how the human brain behaves during a traumatic event.

And we should *all* be concerned by the chilling effect because it means people aren't coming forward which means we're not apprehending people who are committing profound harm.
