1/ My Blue Jays: A socialist reverie…

My Dad took me to the first Blue Jays game in 1977. It was so cold in Exhibition Stadium (“The Mistake by the Lake”) that asses were freezing to the aluminum bleachers.

It snowed, people left. We stayed, the Jays won!

1/ Exactly 20 years ago, I was honoured to speak at the Alberta Teachers' Association convention, 2005.

I've got the same message of solidarity and appreciation I did then:

Getting to work or school everyday shouldn’t be the Hunger Games. That’s why I was proud to join UBC staff and students at their rally demanding that the UBC Skytrain finally be built.

The federal government needs to step up and start funding public transit like the vital public service it is.
