T50 and Calcification Progression in Kidney Transplant Recipients: Does it have to be “bad” to be useful? In addition to diabetes and male gender, we identified myosteatosis and low muscle mass as predisposing factors. Visceral and subcutaneous fat mass were not determinants of the low ratio.

We show that a low eGFR ratio is associated with the occurrence of major cardiovascular events, whether using CKD-EPI or EKFC equations.

The originality of this study also lies in our attempt to identify the determinants of such a low ratio by including body composition data in the analyses.

Very pleased to share this publication from @hophenrimondor.bsky.social .
A low eGFRcys/eGFRcr ratio is increasingly recognized as a risk factor for morbidity and mortality, including CV events.
However, there was little or no data available on kidney transplantation.

While frailty is often difficult to identify, myosteatosis is easy to detect on the basis of unenhanced abdominal CT scans performed as part of routine care.

We previously showed that myosteatosis was associated with mortality after kidney transplantation (10.1002/jcsm.12853).
It is therefore likely that myosteatosis is associated with frailty, in addition to cardiovascular risk.

Diabetic status and the performances of creatinine- and cystatin C–based eGFR equations ABSTRACTBackground. The estimation of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is one tool to detect renal disease. The most used biomarker remains serum creatinin

One question was still open: is the diabetic status (in itself) influencing the performance of eGFR? We show the answer is No
