NEW: Voters support a wide range of policies that would put a check on ICE abuses.

These include body cameras, oversight & independent investigations, and limits to raids, masks, and ICE funding.

Abolishing ICE: YouGov released an updated poll after the murder of Alex Pretti this weekend.

Nationally, net +5pp of Americans believe we should abolish ICE for the first time.

Speaking up works. Protesting works. Calling your senators and pressuring them to stand up, works. Keep going ya'll.

100%. Until their money is where their mouth is, this is just an empty statement (and a weak one at that).

Completely agree. They have the power to actually *do something* - and yet they choose to respond with soft words that water down the gravity of what's happening.

This is a cop out of the highest order.

"ICE will leave Minnesota if you hand over your voter rolls" tells you everything you need to know.

This was never about immigration or fraud. It was always about rigging elections.

Minnesota deserves strong leadership.

When state violence goes unchecked, we expect our leaders to step up and lead the charge. State leadership is more important than ever, and Minnesota has among the best.

ICE needs to get the hell out of Minnesota.

60 CEOs with the MN Chamber signed an open letter calling for "immediate deescalation."

Apparently, it took more than one murder to catch the attention of business leaders.

Words are no longer enough: if you want change, demand it with your lobbying $$$ and campaign contributions.

'Full Circle': AIM patrols back on Minneapolis streets as tensions rise - ICT Supporters are pouring in from across Indian Country to protect the Minnesota community from ICE

One thing that has brought me tremendous hope in the past week, despite the horror of ICE's kidnapping and murders, is the response of everyday people who have finally said that 'enough is enough'.

In moments of crisis, we rise up to protect each other. Always.

This year, I've committed to raising $26,000 for 2026 – a campaign to invest in courageous, visionary Native candidates running for office across the country.

The newsletter will tell their stories, track their races, and build a community of people ready to invest in the frontlines of leadership.

Reflective democracy is a simple idea: our communities have all the wisdom, lived experience, and vision needed to govern themselves – so our elected leadership should look like the people they serve.

We need 17,000 Native elected officials for basic parity. We have just over 400.

My deepest condolences are with the family of Alex Pretti, and everyone who knew and loved him.

Enough is enough. They are killing us in the streets. The Senate cannot send one more penny to ICE.

After working with thousands of candidates over the years, I can assure you: most of the stuff put out by think tanks or research firms intended for ~Dems running for office~ never actually gets to those candidates. Something to keep in mind as you observe the intrafactional BS!

Deb Haaland for New Mexico | Official Campaign Website Deb Haaland is running for Governor because she’s lived the struggles of New Mexicans. She is determined to face the toughest challenges head-on.

Deb was a single mom, who cleaned her kid's preschool to afford tuition, who went to NM public schools and became Secretary of Interior.

This is why our lived experience is our expertise. Why we need proximate, visionary Native leadership at the helm.

The Yazzie/Martinez plaintiffs (all 23 Pueblos/Nations) developed something called the Tribal Remedy Framework - a comprehensive plan developed BY Native communities.

It's never been fully implemented. Deb's plan actually does what tribal leaders have been asking for since 2018.

On career pathways: starting a path/skill building in MIDDLE SCHOOL. Partnership with union apprenticeship programs. Expanding the opportunity scholarship to cover grad school and vocational certificates.

Not everyone needs a 4-year degree, but everyone deserves a path to economic stability.

NM has a serious shortage of educators.

On teachers: Living wages that grow with inflation automatically. Housing assistance for rural educators (bc you can't recruit teachers to communities where they can't afford to live). And a task force where teachers directly write policy. Actual teachers.

Deb is proposing Community Schools - where students and families actually have power in decision-making, not just "input."

Schools become hubs: healthcare, dental, counseling, family support all there. Because kids can't learn if they're hungry, sick, or dealing with trauma alone.

15.01.2026 00:13 — 👍 1    🔁 1    💬 1    📌 0

On schools: A Tribal Education Trust Fund for Native language revitalization with long-term, sustained funding.

Tribal schools would finally get access to Public School Capital Outlay funds - the money other schools use to fix roofs, update HVAC, build new facilities. This is about basic equity.

79% of New Mexico fourth graders can't read at grade level.

NM's graduation rate is 71%... lowest in the country.

BUT: New Mexico also just became the first state to offer FREE universal child care (saving families $12K/year).

There are bold solutions and a budget surplus to fix this.
