Lost a tooth as a kid, then literally lost it. I was crushed. Mom, mid-makeup, shouts, “Five bucks to whoever finds it!” Chaos ensues. Secretly, she’d already found it and slipped it to me with a wink. Classic Mom. Magic, strategy, love... while getting ready for work.

What makes a song good?

Having MD'd for musical improv, I've experienced songs being written on the spot with multiple collaborators. Granted, most of those songs could use rewrites 🤣 But..some of them, holy heck, sound like they were carefully crafted over time and consideration. I also have 20+ year old unfinished songs.

How long does it take you to write a song?

I'm getting a little bolder in my playing. I can't wait to get all these pieces together 🤗

As a musician, do you consider yourself an artist? How about vis versa?

I wish we all were capable of handling complex emotions with greater ease. It gets so beautiful when you're not afraid to cry. Just let yourself be willing to feel it. Let yourself be willing to feel anything other than hate.
It's fucking worth it.

I am so thankful for the sun. To feel it on my face reminds me I am human. To believe that it shines only for me reminds me that I am an artist. To know that it shines for all of us reminds me that I'm thoughtful. To know that not everyone feels it at the same time makes me feel oddly connected. 🤔❤️🤗
