As a reminder, this show is coming up in about a month. Another chance to see @averysafecat.bsky.social, @joshkrahn.bsky.social, Erin O and I play music together of course, but much more than that. Sensor Ghost rules and I am excited to see Clenchers live for the first time. Good people, good music.

Really excited to announce an interactive website for my As Time Draws Near story, done by Nick Violi. Nick has seamlessly put together my music with the words as you scroll. We’re offering this for free, but encourage you to donate to MSMA (Migrant Solidarity Mutual Aid).

Yeah, this is a mess. I think maybe you let people who play pro oversees when they are younger enter the college system, but not even sure that makes sense. I love UVA basketball but it is weird that one of their best players is a 23 year old first year college player who played oversees.

Watched a luge YT last night and it took me a minute to figure it out. Then saw the little drone trailing the luge down the track. Wild shit.

essay i mentioned previously on how independent music gives you the basic tools for organizing even if you didn’t realize you were building those skills, and how great it’s been to watch people hit the ground running

Contra Madre, by Nomad War Machine and Susan Alcorn 7 track album

It’s Bandcamp Friday, and my label released this album by the late, much-missed pedal-steel player Susan Alcorn and the Philly duo Nomad War Machine, and if you’re in the market for volcanic improvisation, I recommend it.

A photo of the extremely handsome new LPs by Drew Gardner, Daniel O'Sullivan & Richard Youngs, and Universal Light. Plus a sticker of our rooster. Doesn't really do his majesty justice, but I'm not an artist.

Revolutions, by Daniel Bachman 4 track album

Also it is always a good time to support @danielbachman.bsky.social, but in particular he has a new record out that is a very textured cool set of drones. Daniel has been putting in a ton of work and it is a treat to follow along. Check it out: danielbachman.bandcamp.com/album/revolu...

Image is a flyer for an art opening at Infinite Repeats in Charlottesville, Virginia (USA) on Friday, February 6. It is called "Teenbeat Grafika Exhibition" and is listed as Teenbeat 603 in their catalog. The image is four sets of circles alternately colored red and blue that get smaller as they move towards the center of the image. At a certain point the four sets intersect in the middle and make a grid-like pattern similar to an spirograph design. The text is in black.

An event happening tonight (2/6) in Charlottesville is this @teenbeat.bsky.social art/design show opening at Infinite Repeats! This should be very cool as of course Teenbeat Records has always had a singular and cool design bent to go along with the music. Should be a good time with good folks.

Generally deleting more posts than I leave up these days. Learning? Getting over my shit? Being boring? Who knows, but for now it is the thing I land on. Just deleted another one and now am posting about it lol.

New record! It's been five years since I recorded Music for Four Guitars and it's time for a new jam β€” proud to present the latest four guitars LP, "Music in Continuous Motion," up for preorder today and shipping next month.

Not sure I will make it to Richmond that night as I will have a very long day Saturday running that show, but I would very much like to be there. Who knows, maybe I will surprise myself. Everyone else should go to that show in Richmond though!

Next show at Visible Records in Charlottesville will be w/ the very cool, very unique Sensor Ghost outta DC (their last record on Dischord, Irritation on Demand, is great). Also joining will be no-wave-y skronkers Clenchers outta Richmond & Radon Abatement. Should be a good time. Saturday, March 14.

At least you get notified if you have been added to one and can reach out to ask to be removed. I get why some people want to have a lot of engagement I guess, but an arbitrary onset of followers is not really interesting to me.

I asked to be removed from lists I got added to as well. Easy to end up connected to a whole lot of people randomly, which I am not finding beneficial these days

Excited to share this event honoring the first Virginia folk performer to get an Encyclopedia Virginia entry, Texas Gladden. We will share lots of music from the archive & have ballad singer Elizabeth LaPrelle speak to her influence in her work.

Not sure this fits the bill fully, but for some reason when you mentioned the topic it was one of the first that came to mind, which is the "Harmony of the Spheres" box set. Still one I listen to: www.youtube.com/watch?v=020X...

Generally I don't care about this argument too much as I never used Spotify anyway so likely hear very little AI music as-is, but I see no reason to get teary for people who love doing AI shit. There are plenty of places for them to stick their music if they so choose.

01.02.2026 16:35 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

It is fine to argue about the "cool" uses of AI just as one might have argued for drum machines over drummers for some music, but the material reality of most AI music is that it is trying to capture AS MUCH attention and listeners as possible by algorithmically breaking the systems to their favor.
