This times 100 - absolute naivety at best and a lack of any legal or historical lense on what happens these situations, Abu Gharib comes to mind. And when you systemically dehumanize the people in these “detention” centers the results historically are always worse.

Per my dad, I’m from the South, what the Civil War was about - it was states’ rights, not slavery. He would say the War of Northern Aggression was the unlawful exercise of federal power, and Lincoln forming an army to invade the South, over decisions that were states’ rights under the Constitution.

Constitution and Bill of Rights I recall also cover birthright citizenship, the ability of the federal government to chime in on state elections and big picture says any rights not specifically reserved for federal government are states rights.
