Happy 1st Birthday to Denahi or “Denny” the northern fur seal! Denny now weighs about 45 lbs and chows down on 7.5 lbs of fish a day—though squid might just be the favorite on the menu... 🦭🦑🎂 Happy birthday Denny!!

Fun fact about Maia, the California sea lion: sometimes she’s a little shy and has the quietest vocals of all the sea lions at the Aquarium. She’s still a perfect lady though!

On World Sea Lion Day we celebrate our fine flippered friends! It is our privilege to provide a forever home for our species ambassadors, many of whom received a second-chance at life here at Mystic Aquarium. We also celebrate the animal care professionals who work with them every day!

Have you ever seen a health exam on a cownose ray? During this procedure, the animal is anesthetized, and the husbandry and veterinary teams work together to draw blood, take measurements and weights, ultrasound the animal to look at their organs and do a thorough visual external examination.

Today is World Veterinary Day, a day we celebrate some of the real life super heroes that work at Mystic Aquarium. This group of committed professionals delivers the highest level of care for our animals every hour of every day, all year round. Thank you for all you do!

The African penguin chicks at Mystic Aquarium have been introduced to water as they start to prepare for their first swim and integrating with the full colony on habitat!
