Only better services can make public transport useable for more people.
FYI I think this sentence is outdated? The CoS has implemented a number of on-street share bike parking spaces:
“..take parking spaces from cars for the corralled storage of shared bikes off the footpaths…Sadly, after some 8 years of shared bikes in the City of Sydney, this has yet to happen.”

Sharing this magnus opus by @jakecoppinger.bsky.social:
Sydneysiders, have you ever noticed the wide stroads and one-way heavy traffic when you drive between Redfern and Green Square? This project has a name, and the streetscape doesn't have to be this way jakecoppinger.com/2026/02/have...

A proliferation of sexual deepfakes on X has prompted other countries to investigate Grok, the platform’s AI software, but, so far, Ottawa remains silent.

Australia's eSafety Commissioner is assessing several image-based abuse complaints involving Elon Musk's AI chatbot Grok, after weeks a "mass undressing spree" where it generated 10,000s images including women & children depicted in revealing outfits or suggestive positions.

Even the left wing media is failing us in these conversations, and doing a disservice to the victims by not even questioning car culture narrative.

Yes - see the section I added on this fatality: jakecoppinger.com/2025/11/list...
There have been misleading articles on pedestrian and cyclist road deaths recently. Some have “...suggested that e-scooters and e-bikes played a significant part in the rise in pedestrian deaths”, when “...fatalities were in fact the riders of e-scooters” (ABC)

Good news! Not only is Sydney’s new Oxford Street cycleway doing numbers (3,000+ trips p/d) the other *five lanes* of traffic everyone was *so worried* about appear to be *just fine*(!)
What happened in Sydney’s CBD when signals were reprogrammed to turn green 20 seconds quicker?

I’d been using the Arc browser daily since it was invite-only, so The Browser Company confirming it’s effectively dead still stings.
I really admired Arc for how much thought and craft went into it. So I wrote an obituary for my favourite browser:

I've written this analysis piece based on TfNSW GIPA 25T-1420, which you may have seen this morning in the Sydney Morning Herald.
I hope you find it helpful to understand the project.

This week is National Road Safety Week. 50 people walking are killed on NSW roads and streets every year and this figure is trending up. Many of these people are killed taking risks to cross streets because signal wait times are too long.

Compared to 2022, there has been a nationwide swing to #DemocracySausage, with an increase of 5.2 percentage points in the estimated percentage of election day voters with access to #DemocracySausage. The largest swing was in NSW with a 10.5 percentage point increase.

WalkSydney hosted a Sunday afternoon walk along the Cooks river between the Beamish Street pedestrian bridge and the Sugar Mill pedestrian bridge in Hulstone Park. The area around Campsie, Sydney, NSW, was traditionally Wangal land, a clan of the Darug (or Dharug, Dharuk, Daruk) tribe…
So why, yet again, block the footpath for road works signage??
